  Have you seen your first
Ruby-throat
yet? We have heard reports from many of you! Buford customer Robin Brown captured the photo above of an adult male visiting her Dr. JB's
hummingbird feeder!
Indigo Buntings, Gray Catbirds, Barn Swallows and more are also returning from their winter homes in the tropics.

Our friend Rusty Trump (of Georgia Hummers) recently received notice from the Bird Banding Lab that a male Red-bellied
Woodpecker
he banded in his yard in Suwanee now holds the longevity record for the species at 12 years 3 months! If you've ever wondered how long Ruby-throats (9 years), Northern Cardinals (15 years 9 months) or Red-tailed Hawks (30 years 8 months!) can live, check out this link

and enter the species name you are curious about. We learn all kinds of cool facts from banding data!

Hi Birdwatchers!

bluebird eggs
Are you as happy as we are that March is over? Bring on the warmer weather, azaleas and dogwoods blooming, butterflies flitting and birds nesting!

Spring is the best time to spruce up the yard - plant flowers, build birdhouses, hang a new set of wind chimes, and do some thorough cleaning of your bird feeders. Dirty and dilapidated feeders can be harmful to our bird friends. Bacteria, mold, mildew, broken plastic, jagged wood pieces...all need to go. If your feeder is just dirty, a little elbow grease and a bottle brush goes a long way. Scoot Bird Feeder Cleaner is our favorite enzyme action product. It works all types of feeders and is not harmful to birds or the environment. For your hummingbird feeders, we recommend a 10 parts water to 1 part plain bleach mixture instead of soap, which can leave a residue. Have a problem with yucky, black stuff on your hummer feeders? Change the nectar more often (at least twice weekly) so mold and mildew won't have a chance to grow.

We are doing a little Spring cleaning of our own at our warehouse, and are offering deep discounts on a few clearance items including Gardman Seed Feeders and Log Cabin Wren Houses. So if you have a feeder or bird house that is in really bad shape, it's a great time to replace it! See another great offer below!
