Vegan Society of P.E.A.C.E.

Fall is here and our annual Texas Go Vegan Week starts on October 1st! This celebration of vegan living in Texas continues to grow each year with participation from several cities. Houston is the nation's 4th largest city and there is no shortage of great vegan events here this week!

What started out as our "Texas Veggin'-out Days" years ago soon evolved into a week-long celebration known as "Texas Go Vegan Week" -- yes, right here in Texas!!! Held annually during the first week of October, this campaign also brings recognition to "World Vegetarian Day", "World Farm Animals Day" and "Vegetarian Awareness Month".

Happy Cow Vegan Guide There are amazing websites and resources like HappyCow.net, which lists vegan and vegan-friendly eateries anywhere in the world. They also offer a free phone app that can be downloaded on any iPhone or smart phone device.

Never before have there been so many vegan options available in grocery stores, farmers markets, restaurants and online! This year, Target stores have launched their own line of vegan products. And, it's exciting to see numerous vegan restaurants popping up all over Texas and across the country! Vegan living is becoming mainstream everywhere you look.

Undercover investigations inside slaughterhouses and factory farms are also readily available on the Internet, which reaffirm the importance of living vegan. People everywhere can learn the truth -- there is nothing "humane" about raising animals for food and there is no such thing as "humane" slaughter. This gives us hope that there will some day be an end to the exploitation and slaughter of billions of animals and aquatic species as more of the world becomes enlightened and adopts a compassionate, ethical and sustainable vegan lifestyle.

Vegan Society of PEACE 2nd Saturdays Texas Go Vegan Week festivities may happen only one week per year, but our organization conducts outreach and produces events year round. You can also join us once a month for our "2nd Saturdays" Monthly Vegan Meetings and Potlucks! If you aren't located in the Houston area, please visit Meetup.com for monthly vegan gatherings around the country or start a "2nd Saturday" in your city.

Remember to support Texas vegan businesses and restaurants during Texas Go Vegan Week. Share yummy vegan food with your coworkers and take vegan literature to your extracurricular events. Post pictures of delicious vegan cuisine on social media. You never know what will sprout from the "seeds" of compassion you plant in the world!

As always, thank you so much for supporting our organization and for choosing to "be a voice for billions"! Join us in inspiring others to go vegan -- not just for the week, but for a lifetime!
