Remember to join us for our "2nd Saturdays" Monthly Vegan Events! The next event is this Saturday, June 14 at 6:00 PM. Our popular vegan potlucks and presentations take place every month at the C.K.E.L. Reception Hall on 2353 Rice Blvd. (near Rice University) in Houston. Parking is always available at Rice Stadium for just $1 per vehicle.

For June, we have two discussion topics! First, Stephanie Hoban, RD, will present a food demonstration and answer your vegan nutrition questions. She is the founder and vegan chef of Ripe CuisineRipe Vegan Cuisine

Stephanie has a Bachelors Degree in Nutrition from New York University, and a Masters Degree in Nutrition from Texas Women's University. Stephanie is also a Registered and Licensed Dietitian, as well as a Natural Foods Chef, trained at The Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City
! We'll also hear exciting news regarding the launch of her new Ripe Cuisine vegan food truck here in Houston.

Next, local independent activist Eugene Khutoryanksy will share his tips for abolitionist animal rights activism and using social media to promote veganism. Eugene is an electrical engineer by profession, but his passion is getting people started on the vegan path.

Our food theme for June is "Vegan Breakfast and

Brunch". Enjoy delicious waffles, pancakes, tofu scrambles, pastries, donuts, fresh fruits and more! Vegan and raw vegan dishes are always welcome. All food must be 100% vegan! Be sure to check out the fantastic  breakfast recipes from chef Stephanie at the Ripe-Cuisine.com recipe box!

This month's attendees can also enter to win more gift certificates from local vegan restaurant Pepper Tree! We'll also have a drawing for another copy of the amazing book On Their Own Terms: Bringing Animal Rights Philosophy Down To Earth, by abolitionist law expert Lee Hall.

Directly after this month's meeting, we'll have another Volunteer Orientation for those who wish to help at our upcoming 4th Annual VegFest Houston. We need at least 50 volunteers for the festival this year! Please plan to meet with our volunteer coordinator, or you can email Phillip directly.

All attendees are asked bring a vegan dish to share (a serving size to feed 8-10 people) in order to eat from the potluck, plus a donation of $2 per adult, $1 per child to cover the facility rental. Food must be labeled with ingredients. We always strive to have eco-friendly events, so please bring your own reusable dinnerware, cups and utensils!
