Remember to join us for our
"2nd Saturdays" Monthly Events!
February Featured Guest Speaker:
Jerry Friedman, J.D.

Remember to join us for our "2nd Saturdays" Monthly Vegan Events! The next event is this Saturday, February 8 at 6:00 PM. Our popular vegan potlucks and presentations take place every month at the C.K.E.L. Reception Hall on 2353 Rice Blvd. (near Rice University) in Houston. Parking is available at Rice Stadium for just $1 per vehicle.
For February, we are honored to present Jerry Friedman, J.D. as our featured guest speaker! He was a featured panel speaker at the 2013 Animal Rights National Conference in Los Angeles and has appeared on television and radio programs. We are thrilled that such an esteemed speaker now calls Houston his home!

As a dedicated abolitionist vegan, social justice activist and lawyer, Jerry has written articles for an encyclopedia and a science journal. He's also served on numerous boards. He is eager to share his current research which challenges the meat-brain connection and will present evidence that "Eating Animal Flesh Did NOT Cause the Human Brain to Grow". This will be an exciting presentation you won't want to miss!

Our food theme this month is "Hearty Vegan Chili, Healthy Green Salads and Decadent Dark Chocolate". Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so what better time to celebrate than with vegan sweets and comfort foods! Vegan and raw vegan dishes are welcome.

We'll also pay tribute to Black History Month with a short slide show of famous vegans. This month attendees can enter to win gift certificates from local vegan restaurant Pepper Tree! Pepper Tree logo

All attendees are asked bring a vegan dish to share (a serving size to feed 8-10 people) in order to eat from the potluck, plus a donation of $2 per adult, $1 per child to cover the facility rental. Food must be labeled with ingredients. We always strive to have eco-friendly events, so please bring your own reusable dinnerware, cups and utensils!

VSOP 2nd SaturdaysNewcomers and attendees of all ages are welcome! Please note that children cannot be left unattended at any time. We encourage parents to bring board games, coloring books and toys for our youth attendees if too cold to use the playground.

Remember parking is available at Rice University Stadium across the street and costs only $1 for events held at the C.K.E.L. venue. Seating is limited to 100 attendees. To RSVP for 2nd Saturdays, visit our website Community Events Calendar.

And, if you live outside the Houston area, please consider hosting a Vegan Monthly Gathering in your city or visit Meetup.com to search near you. The new year is a great time to launch monthly vegan events like ours in your community!

See you this weekend for another amazing vegan event!
