Greetings!
Remember to join us this Saturday, May 11, from 6:00-8:30 PM for our "2nd Saturdays" Monthly Meeting and Vegan Potluck! These friendly gatherings are held each month at The Havens Center in Houston and feature a delicious vegan potluck, along with a discussion, short film, food demo or speaker presentation. There's something new every month!!
 For May, we're celebrating Mother's Day and enjoying the culinary Flavors of Mexico!
Ideas for the potluck include vegan tacos, enchiladas, rice dishes, tropical fruits and more. Raw vegan dishes are always welcome!
Our discussion topic will focus on Mother's Day and "Honoring the Mothers of All Species".  We'll show a video about the lives of dairy cows and egg laying hens,  which emphasizes the many reasons to live vegan. The film will also show the truth behind the "humane myth", "cage-free" and "free range". In addition, the topic of Monsanto and GMO's will be discussed as Houston prepares for the 'March Against Monsanto' later this month.
Directly after the event, we'll hold a VegFest Houston Volunteer Orientation. If you are interested in volunteering at our 3rd annual festival on June 15, please plan to attend. We need lots of additional festival volunteers to help at our new, larger venue!
Please remember to bring a vegan entree, side dish or dessert to share at the potluck! Our events are always vegan, so only vegan or raw vegan foods (no animal-derived ingredients).If you have questions on ingredients, feel free to contact us. Help us also keep our events earth-friendly and our costs down by bringing your own reusable dinnerware, plates & cups.
This is a great way to meet up with Vegan Society of P.E.A.C.E. each month! For those interested, the fun continues after our monthly event with an informal vegan social mixer at an off-site location.
Please RSVP online to let us know you'll be there. All ages and newcomers are welcome at our "2nd Saturdays" vegan events! We hope you'll invite your friends as well! Doors open at 6:00 PM!
