Greetings!
Remember to join us for our "2nd Saturdays" Monthly Meeting and Vegan Potlucks each month at The Havens Center in Houston! Our December potluck is Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 6:00-8:30 PM.
Our friendly gatherings feature a delicious vegan potluck, along with a discussion and either a short film, food demo or speaker presentation. There's something new every month! We'll also highlight various topics, such as: animal rights, ethical vegan living, vegan health, food preparation, eco-friendly living and more. This month, we have a seasonal and fun winter holiday theme!

Our December food theme is "Vegan Breakfast Foods for Dinner". We all love a good vegan breakfast -- even for our evening meal, so feel free to bring your favorite foods to share at our potluck. Ideas include: vegan waffles, pancakes, tofu scrambles, vegan sausage biscuits, raw nut pate, fresh fruit salads, smoothies, leafy green salads, vegan donuts and pastries, muffins, kolaches, vegan casseroles, hot spiced cider and vegan hot cocoa, to name a few. We'll supply the vegan griddle and a waffle iron, but we welcome additional waffle machines if you have them.

In celebration of several holidays around the world this month, we're having a Vegan Cookie Exchange! For every dozen vegan cookies or dessert bars you bring, you get to select a dozen variety to take home with you. The more participation we have, the more fun this will be! We encourage you to bring vegan cookies with a global theme.

The December discussion topic is "Veganism is Nonviolence". There will be some inspiring film clips to highlight this topic. We'll also have a book review of The World Peace Diet by VSOP board member Anuj Shah, Ph.D. One lucky recipient will go home with a door prize -- The World Peace Diet 13-hour audio CD, narrated by author Will Tuttle, Ph.D.!
Please remember to bring a vegan breakfast entree, side dish or dessert to share at the potluck! Our events are always vegan, so only vegan or raw vegan foods (no animal-derived ingredients). If you have questions on ingredients, feel free to contact us. Help us also keep our events earth-friendly and our costs down by bringing your own reusable dinnerware, plates & cups.
This is a great way to meet up with Vegan Society of P.E.A.C.E. each month! Attendees will also learn about our volunteer opportunities, upcoming events (including our annual "Celebrate PEACE, Live Vegan" Winter Holiday Open House event next weekend) and ongoing outreach. For those interested, the fun continues after our monthly event with an informal vegan social mixer at an off-site location.
Please RSVP online to let us know you'll be there. All ages and newcomers are welcome at our "2nd Saturdays" vegan events! We hope you'll invite your friends as well! Doors open at 6:00 PM!
*For our members outside the Houston area and around the globe, we encourage you to join us by hosting a "2nd Saturdays" monthly vegan potluck in your city, or search for vegan gatherings on Meetup.com
