Greetings!
The motto of Pope John Paul II High School is "...to communicate Christ." One powerful way that we communicate Christ is through the love and support we show to each other, especially in difficult times.
By now you may be aware that our student, friend, teammate, and classmate Christian Hegarty '15 is facing difficult times. Christian has been diagnosed with pediatric cancer and is undergoing treatment at Dana Farber Cancer Center/Children's Hospital, Boston. While Christian's medical situation is challenging, his personal strength, loving and supportive family, and excellent doctors are all factors in his favor. Christian is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Preparatory School and is now in his junior year at Pope John Paul II High School.
Many have asked what they can do to support Christian and his family.
First and foremost, keep Christian and his family in your prayers. Additionally, you may wish to offer support to Christian's family as they face significant expenses.
- Students at JPII and SFXP will be selling bracelets in support of Christian upon our return from Thanksgiving break. These bracelets will be modestly priced and proceeds will assist the family.
- An account has been established at the Bank of Cape Cod to make donations to offset family expenses. You may contact the Bank of Cape Cod directly to make a donation or Mrs. Astone, Business Manager, at school.
- Gifts and other physical items can be brought to school. Mrs. Ellen Guerin, on behalf of the Parents Association, will ensure that items brought to school are received by the family.
I am grateful for Christian, his family, and you who create such a strong Catholic school community. Let us put our trust in Divine Providence now and always.
Sincerely,
Christopher W. Keavy Head of School |
