| Event Recap: International Trade Conference |
This year, the conference was held on May 18. If you missed it, here is a recap of what went on.
1. Special remarks and a toast to our 25 year anniversary was made by WTC Vice-Chairman Adam Say (RoomMates Decor).
2. There were 6 sessions on a wide variety of topics.
3. Everyone benefited from hearing the success stories and lessons learned from two of our member companies during the "You Export WHAT? To WHERE?!" luncheon.
4. 10 trade service providers and regional partners were on-hand during the Trade Exhibition to meet with companies and answer questions.
5. We had a Twitter contest during the conference! At the end of the conference, three "tweeps" were chosen and received a prize for their participation!

| The Defend Trade Secrets Act: Federalizing Trade Secret Law |

On May 11, 2016, President Obama signed into law the Defend Trade Secrets Act. The United States House of Representatives voted 410-2 to approve the legislation following the Senate's earlier unanimous approval of the bill. This rare display of legislative and executive cooperation and goodwill is, on its own, quite impressive. Along the way, a couple of key compromises were required to gain consensus. Putting those compromises aside for the moment, what ultimately emerged is a law that creates a private, Federal cause of action to enforce trade secrets, including establishing procedures for obtaining civil seizure orders, injunctive relief, and damages for trade secret misappropriation and unjust enrichment. The law is effective immediately and applies to any theft of trade secrets that takes place after the date of enactment. Continue reading.

Emily interned with us during the spring semester. During her internship, Emily utilized her digital communication skills to give our website a fresh, updated theme, make videos for our State of the Ports Address and International Trade Conference, create marketing flyers and brochures, among other duties.
Emily graduated last weekend from Lebanon Valley College with a double major in Digital Communications and Global Studies and a minor in German. She will be studying in Australia from mid-summer through the fall and has already accepted a job as a marketing coordinator for Greenfish Labs, a virtual reality production company located in Lancaster, upon her return.
