New Census Regulations Will Impact ATA Carnets
Courtesy of Roanoke Trade
Starting April 5, 2014, several changes will be implemented to the Foreign Trade Regulations, including changes for goods leaving the U.S. under an ATA Carnet. Generally, exports from the United States require Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings. Certain exemptions that exist today will be greatly curtailed effective April 5, primarily affecting ATA Carnet shipments, as temporary exports will no longer be exempt from the EEI filing. This covers both U.S. issued ATA Carnets and foreign ATA Carnets used for temporary importation into the U.S. Please visit Roanoke Trade's detailed guide for more information. |

PoolPak International Expands in Korea

PoolPak International, based in York, is the leading U.S. manufacturer of dehumidification systems designed for indoor pool applications. The company has been working closely with Pennsylvania's trade office in Korea, which helped identify their current sales representative, Sandol Technology.
Pat Reynolds, PoolPak's Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Service, recently visited Korea to oversee the installation of one of their units on a skyscraper in Busan, which was a very high profile job. Since working with Sandol, PoolPak is now the number one pool dehumidifier in Korea. PoolPak systems are sold in over 20 countries around the world.
Klinge Continues Contract with Swedish Defence Force
Production of fifty additional military refrigerated A-frame containers is underway at Klinge Corporation manufacturing facilities in York, PA. Initially the Swedish Defence (Forsvars Materialverk, or FMV for short) had ordered 60 refrigerated containers, but now an additional 50 units are under contract, to be delivered by the first half of 2014. "The contract has expanded to nearly twice the size of the initial contract for a total value of more than $9 million dollars," said Vice President, Allan Klinge. |
PA Trade Mission to Russia/Kazakhstan Postponed
With the crisis consuming the Crimean peninsula showing no signs of abating and the uncertainty of potential implications of the conflict on U.S.-Russia trade relations, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has decided to postpone its planned Trade Mission to Russia and Kazakhstan. The mission had been scheduled for April and may be rescheduled for June if the situation stabilizes by then.
