Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week!

Please remember to bring cookies for the teachers Thursday, May 5th.

Message from the President
One person can make a big difference at a small school like Raskob!  If you are thinking about becoming more involved, please come to a meeting or contact me or any other officer and we'd be happy to talk to you.

Speaking of coming to a meeting... Please join us for our next RPA Meeting on Friday, May 6th at 8:30 am in the California Room. We will discuss how much money we raised from the Raskob Social and how it will be spent. We will also discuss board positions and other jobs that remain open for next year.  Remember one person can make a big difference.

Thank you to Mark Headley who is organizing the Teacher Appreciation Lunch on Wednesday, May 4th. Students are asked to bring cookies to their teachers and aides on Thursday, May 5th. The High School Information Night and Fair will take place that evening and details are provided below.

The Raskob Open House will be from 6 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, May 18th and a pizza dinner will be provided by the RPA.  We could use some help organizing this event.  If you are willing to help, please contact me at rpapresident@gmail.com.  We will be sending a sign-up sheet so that families can bring salads, paper goods, etc.

We are still happily accepting donations to purchase items selected by the Raskob administration and faculty as priorities.  Thank you to the over 30% of Raskob families who have already made a donation.  We are hoping people who made pledges will send their donations soon in order for us to provide the final fundraising results.  If you would like to donate, please click on the Raskob Fundraising button to the right.

Best Regards,
Marianne

Raskob Events
 May 5th
High School Information Night and School Fair
5:15 - 7:00 pm

The first part of the evening event (5:15 - 6:00) is the Raskob Parent Information Meeting, for 7th grade parents only.  During this meeting, Stefani will review Raskob's role in the high school process, as well as what steps families can take over the summer to prepare for next year.  If you are unable to attend, please know that all information covered will be provided in handouts that we can send home to you later.  There will be opportunities to discuss specific questions about your child during individual parent meetings in the fall.

The second part of that night's event is the High School Fair that will be from 6:00pm - 7:00pm in the California Room, and is open to all middle school families and students.  If your 7th grader is coming to attend the fair portion of the event, there will be supervision provided during the parent only information meeting (5:15-6pm). This event is an opportunity for you to talk with representatives from different schools and begin to ask questions. The schools that have attended in the past include Bayhill, Orinda, Holden, Archbishop Riordan, Holy Names High School, SF Flex Academy, Mentoring Academy, and Sterne.

Come see a screening of the film "Read Me Differently" by local filmmaker Sarah Entine at Susie Gehring & Jen Nadeau's house near Merritt College (Remi Nadeau).

The film examines the effects of learning differences on family dynamics through the story of three generations of women, all of whom struggled with unidentified LD. There will be a discussion following the film and Sarah (the filmmaker) will join us for a Q&A. It's free, but we would ask for a small donation to provide an honorarium.

When:
Sunday, May 1, 2-4 pm

Where: 6218 Viewcrest Drive, Oakland

Please RSVP to Lisa Scheffer (Kelem's mom) if you plan to

Sorry, adults only.
