Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, families for paying your Raskob dues.  Remember the suggested donation is $55 per family, but any amount is appreciated. The goal is for all families to participate.

Message from RPA President
Greetings,  I hope everyone is staying cool in the crazy heat!

We had a good turnout for the RPA (Raskob Parent Association) meeting last Friday. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Your feedback and input is extremely valuable and greatly appreciated. Our next meeting will be October 2 in the Raskob Library.  The remaining meetings will be in the California Room.
Our next big event is Back to School Night next Thursday, September 17 from 6-7:30pm. You will have the opportunity to meet with your student's teacher(s), be introduced to the room parents, have a school wide meeting with Edee in which she will introduce the faculty, and hear from the Raskob Parent Association (RPA - note that there will be a quiz on what RPA stands for.) :)

All families will receive a packet of information regarding communications from Raskob and the RPA. Some of the material will include information about dues and other fundraising opportunities.  The RPA Board members should have name tags and will be introduced after Edee speaks to everyone, so please ask us any questions you might have or just say hi!

The Big Surprise of Raskob T-Shirts in our new school colors will be delivered to your scholar on September 16 or September 17. They will need to wear their new attire on September 18 for the first spirit day.
Spirit Days are every month and are a huge hit!  Some favorite days last year were pajama day and crazy hair day.  The Raskob student council, under the leadership of Ms. Flores, chooses the spirit day themes and students receive advance notice to prepare for the big day!
Please help fill one more volunteer position, Fundraising.  Our fantastic eighth grade parents, Erica Dennings and Dayna Broussard, will be moving on next year and are looking to pass on their extensive knowledge of Box Tops, Sees Candy, Amazon, dues collection, etc. If you have a younger student, plan to be at Raskob next year and are interested in helping with fundraising, please contact me at  The time commitment is about 1 to 2 hours per month for the early months of the school year and 0 to 1 hour per month after winter break.
I"m looking forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Night.

Best Regards,
Marianne Mitosinka,
RPA President

Around Campus
So where do funds raised by the RPA go?
    chrome books
The RPA works very closely with Raskob to determine how donations will be spent.  Teachers are involved in the decision process and hopefully their needs get met.

Last year many teachers wanted atomic clocks.  These special clocks enabled all classrooms to display the correct time thus relieving some anxiety for our student body.
Another example of getting students and teachers needs meet is the purchase of Chrome Books. These computers enable our students to use Google Docs.  Being able to access technology for our diverse learners is pivotal for them to feel like the confident successful learners they are.

Who doesn't want to enjoy the amazing view from campus?! Well, thanks to the RPA students and facility are able to sit comfortably on the green picnic tables to enjoy the view.

It will be exciting to see what changes the RPA will bring this year.  Please help us by getting to %100 participation.  Thank you!

Don't Miss Out! Join the Raskob Google Group!
We have launched our Raskob Parent/Guardian Google Group and want to make sure your not missing out.

Our Google Group is a forum/listserve designed to simulate the playground of a neighborhood school. The forum is meant to facilitate communication within the Raskob parent community - a place to share ideas and resources and to otherwise feel connected on a regular basis.

You should have already received an invitation to join the Raskob Parent/Guardian Google Group. You simply need to accept the invitation to join.

If you did not receive the invitation and you have a Google Account click here to join.
