Greetings, I hope everyone is staying cool in the crazy heat!
We had a good turnout for the RPA (Raskob Parent Association) meeting last Friday. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. Your feedback and input is extremely valuable and greatly appreciated. Our next meeting will be October 2 in the Raskob Library. The remaining meetings will be in the California Room.
Our next big event is Back to School Night next Thursday, September 17 from 6-7:30pm. You will have the opportunity to meet with your student's teacher(s), be introduced to the room parents, have a school wide meeting with Edee in which she will introduce the faculty, and hear from the Raskob Parent Association (RPA - note that there will be a quiz on what RPA stands for.) :)
All families will receive a packet of information regarding communications from Raskob and the RPA. Some of the material will include information about dues and other fundraising opportunities. The RPA Board members should have name tags and will be introduced after Edee speaks to everyone, so please ask us any questions you might have or just say hi!
The Big Surprise of Raskob T-Shirts in our new school colors will be delivered to your scholar on September 16 or September 17. They will need to wear their new attire on September 18 for the first spirit day.
Spirit Days are every month and are a huge hit! Some favorite days last year were pajama day and crazy hair day. The Raskob student council, under the leadership of Ms. Flores, chooses the spirit day themes and students receive advance notice to prepare for the big day!
Please help fill one more volunteer position, Fundraising. Our fantastic eighth grade parents, Erica Dennings and Dayna Broussard, will be moving on next year and are looking to pass on their extensive knowledge of Box Tops, Sees Candy, Amazon, dues collection, etc. If you have a younger student, plan to be at Raskob next year and are interested in helping with fundraising, please contact me at rpapresident@gmail.com. The time commitment is about 1 to 2 hours per month for the early months of the school year and 0 to 1 hour per month after winter break.
I"m looking forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Night.
Best Regards,
Marianne Mitosinka,
RPA President
