Message from RPA President
Welcome to 2015-2016 School Year!

We are happy you have chosen Raskob as the school for your child/children.

The main goal of the Raskob Parents Association (RPA) is to have everyone feel welcome and part of the Raskob community.  Sometimes this a challenge for a commuter school with students from 24 different communities; therefore, we try hard to foster a sense of community by hosting events and providing communications such as today's newsletter.  You will find Raskob Notes in your inbox every Thursday.  Bear in mind, some information may overlap with the school news sent out each Monday by Marlen, but we feel too much information is better than not enough. Hopefully you agree.

Speaking of community...Our first social event was a huge success.  It was great to see so many of you at the Back to School Barbecue.  Thank you to Erica Dennings, Karen and Ian Kelly (who was our barbecue master in spite of a recently broken knee!) for organizing the barbecue.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Welcome Coffee and especially to those who signed up to volunteer.

We could still really use your help with the following volunteer positions.

Room parents for Ms. Williford / Ms. Almada's advisory class.

Co-Secretary:  We have a volunteer, but she travels for work and needs someone else to share the position of taking notes at the monthly RPA meetings and presenting the finished minutes at the next meeting.  Meetings are the first Friday of the month at 8:30am.

Spirit Wear Coordinator:  We have a website up and running.  We just need someone to promote it from time to time and possibly edit the merchandise.

Signage Coordinator:  We are looking for someone to put signs up on the parking lot bulletin board in advance of meetings and events and to put signs on the Raskob lobby door when needed.

If you are interested in any of these positions, please email me at [email protected].

And a BIG thanks to everyone who has paid their RPA dues.  This is a key source of funding for the RPA.  Our goal is to have 100% of Raskob families participate at whatever level is comfortable.
Money is used to purchase items requested by the Raskob faculty such as technology and playground equipment.  Also some monies are dedicated towards teacher appreciation events and other hospitality events.  Please see below for information about  how to make your donation and when the next RPA meeting will be.  It would be great to see you there!

Shhh...Spirit Wear Surprise:  Please don't tell your children, but the RPA is buying each student a T-shirt with our new Raskob Roadrunner logo in green.  Yes, our school color magically turned from red to green over the summer.  We plan to hand out the T-shirts to the students prior to the first Spirit Day Assembly on September 18th.  You can shop for other spirit wear products at http://raskob.logosoftwear.com/ .

Friday Morning Coffee Gathering Come get to know other families while getting your coffee fix.  Raskob will be providing coffee every Friday morning somewhere near the drop-off area. Try to park and visit with other families for a few minutes if you can.

I hope that the school year is off to a good start , and I look forward to seeing you at the next RPA meeting and Back to School Night!

Best Regards,
Marianne Mitosinka, RPA President

Join Us At The Next RPA Meeting -- September 4th

The Raskob Parents' Association (RPA) will host our next meeting on Friday, September 4, from 8:30-9:30am in the California Room (same room as the Welcome Coffee). If you don't know where the California Room is, just wait in the Raskob lobby and walk over with Jessica and some of the RPA board members.

At this meeting we plan to:

- review last year's budget,
- discuss priorities for this year's budget,
- discuss fundraising priorities,
- discuss plans for the book fair, and
- hear committee reports.

Please join us as we set the RPA priorities for the year.
Remember all Raskob parents and guardians are automatic members of the RPA, it's the membership dues that are voluntary. The collection of dues is an important fundraiser for the RPA which is why the RPA Board has set a 100% participation goal for the collection of dues this school year. The suggested donation amount is $55, however, you can choose the amount that is right for your family.

Use this links below to download the Raskob Parent Association Membership Form that fits your payment option. Once you fill out the form please turn it into Marlen Valle in the front office.

The long line of cars at drop-off
Many drivers wait patiently to pick up passengers everyday.

The teachers are doing an excellent job of getting drivers to pull all the way up.

Thank you community members for getting your passengers buckled and getting on your way in a timely manner.

This is a huge help to relieve congestion in the parking lot.
