Message from RPA President
Greetings.

Thank you to the elementary school families who provided a wonderful teacher appreciation breakfast last Thursday. The faculty and administration are what makes Raskob such a great school. Speaking of thanking the teachers, Teacher Appreciation Day is May 6. The RPA will host a catered lunch for the faculty that day and students can bring in cards, notes and a flower for their teachers.  Reminders will be sent out by the room parents a week or so prior to this event.

Our next Quarterly Coffee and RPA meeting will also be on Wednesday, May 6 in the Bay Vista Room.  Kate Perry, a psychologist who runs several social skills groups at Raskob, will speak from 8:30-9am and a brief RPA meeting will follow.  At the meeting we will discuss the open board positions, remaining events for this school year and how to spend our fundraising proceeds.

We wish to thank everyone for continuing to donate to the RPA to meet our fundraising objectives.  We raised more than $12,000 so far and checks are continuing to come in.  We have exceeded our goal of $8,000 and will speak with Edee about additional items that the school needs, discuss and possibly vote on additional purchases for the school at the next meeting.  Edee has already ordered many of the technology items, the clocks and some PE equipment.

A number of parents and faculty have mentioned that it would be nice to add some landscaping, playground improvements and some type of lockers so that students don't have to leave their belongings lying around.  Complete landscaping and irrigation plans have been given to Holy Names, but are on hold due to the drought.  We have also researched lockers, storage sheds, storage bins, etc. for student belongings.  Given the limited playground area and that fact that we would need more than 50 waterproof lockers for the middle school, we have not been able to come up with a good solution.  If you happen to have expertise in playground design or lockers, please contact Marianne at  rpapresident@gmail.com.  I have been very interested in building and grounds since we came to Raskob  3 years ago. Click here to see what has been accomplished so far.

We hope that everyone is enjoying field studies week and has a great spring break!

Best Regards,
Marianne
