Message from RPA President
Greetings and Happy New Year.

Alumni Night was on January 8t and was a big success and very helpful to those of us who are starting to worry about finding the right high school.  There were even one or two elementary parents in attendance. Thank you to Jessica Baiocchi for contacting the alumni and their  families.  Thank you also to Steve Etter, 8th grade and alumni parent, for moderating the discussion.  Students representing eight high schools spoke about their experiences and answered questions.  Jessica also received written responses from college students who were unable to attend. Both the returning students and current Raskob students seemed to really enjoy seeing each other again and a lot of good information was shared. It was to see that each student seemed to be enjoying their high school experience despite the transition to having a lot more school work.

The Raskob Parent Association (RPA) will be hosting a teacher appreciation breakfast on Thursday, January 15.  Ms Hagstrom's and Ms. Sweeney's advisory classes have been contacted by their respective room parents and are signing up to bring food, beverages and paper goods.  The RPA hosts 3 teacher appreciation breakfasts during the year and one luncheon on Teacher Appreciation Day.

Our next RPA Meeting will also be the second Quarterly Coffee. It will take place on Wednesday, February 4, 8:30-10am in the Bay Vista Room on the Holy Names Campus.  We will include a map to help us all find the room as the meeting date gets closer.

Mark your calenders for our next parent education event on Thursday, February 12, 7-8:30pm in the California Room. The speaker will be Amanda Vogl, who runs an organization called Nurturing Wisdom and is the director of Vine Academy for students with learning differences outside of Chicago.  She will speak about increasing resilience in students with learning differences.

Lastly, we will soon be sending out invitations to our annual Raskob Social which will be on Saturday, March 14, at the home of a Raskob in the Oakland Hills.  This is a great opportunity to socialize with other Raskob families (adults only) as well as members of the Raskob staff.  There will also be an opportunity to make donations for specific items that the Raskob administration, staff and RPA have identified as priorities for the school. This has been our largest fundraiser each year for the last several years. Please save the date.

Best Regards,
Marianne Mitosinka
