Message from RPA President
We Have a Busy November and December at Raskob

At yesterday's Parent Association (RPA) meeting, we welcomed 2 new families to the school and discussed the upcoming Book Fair, parent education and Alumni Night.

The Book Fair will be December 2-4 in the Raskob Library.  Our students will have the opportunity to create Wish Lists of suggested purchases for their families. Also available will be teacher's Wish Lists of books needed for their classrooms. There will also be books for all family members, a concentration of books related to learning differences, and plenty of items to purchase for holiday gifts. Please see the additional Book Fair write up in this newsletter to see how you can be sure the books you want are available.  Details regarding hours of operation and our handy online sales option will be forthcoming.

Our first parent education event is scheduled for Thursday, December 4 from 7-8:30pm. The speaker will be Carrie Lindemuth, Education Therapist and executive function specialist, who has researched and developed programs to teach executive functioning since 2003. Since this parent education event coincides with the Book Fair, you will have an opportunity to shop before and after the event.

Alumni Night is an event which brings back former Raskob parents and students who are now in high school and college to talk about their experiences. Students and parents of current 7th and 8th graders find this event to be very helpful in selecting high schools, however this event is open to all Raskob families. This evening event will take place in early January.  An exact date will be provided as soon as possible.

Best Regards,

Marianne Mitosinka, RPA President

Don't forget to consider having your business or company purchase See's gift certificates or boxes of candy for holiday gifts for clients, employees or office parties. See's makes great door or raffle prizes.

Here is a link to all the products offered. If you have questions, please contact Dana Broussard - daynab@danknox.com.

Thank you for supporting the RPA and Raskob Day School.

Do you have books that you are eager to purchase for yourself or loved ones?

I sure do! Carry On, Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed by Glennon Doyle Melton is a book I have wanted to purchase for sometime and my daughters just today asked me to purchase the second set of Percy Jackson books as well as the Warriors series. I have just added these tittles to the Book Fair Recommendation List.

Adding books to the school's Recommendation List is the best way to ensure our Book Fair has a variety of books that reflect our community's interests. So please add your recommendations as soon as possible. It's easy just click here. Our local partner, Laurel Books will do their best to have our recommendations stocked and available.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help with the Book Fair please contact your Book Fair Co-chairs Carla Dartis

Working on the Book Fair is a fun way to fulfill your required 20 hours of volunteer time this year! Thank you for time and support of our amazing school.
