Second Sunday of Lent
The LORD said to Abram: "Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father's house to a land that I will show you.
"I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you."
Abram went as the LORD directed him.

Social Media Tips
This week's tips include a short video on how to ensure your student uses their screen time productively. Recent studies find that the average American spends 10 hours PER DAY looking at computer/tv/smartphone/tablet screens. If you have not done so in a while, make an effort to speak to your student about how they spend their screen time and make a plan to ensure that they are balancing their entertainment and socializing with their school work.

Mark your Calendars! The Open Mic/ Savio Library/ Barnes and Noble Book Fair is Nov. 11, 2017! Our goal this year is $3,000.00. We can make this goal and more by your participation, buy items during the in-store and online events. Come and perform using your God-given talents. Be thinking about playing an instrument, showing something you'd made in a class, singing, or doing a poetry or dramatic reading. This is also open to alumni to perform and buy materials.
From now until the Open Mic, please consider donating Barnes and Noble gift cards that count toward our goal of $3,000. These cards will be used to help buy books and materials we need. You may turn in the gift cards to Miss Powell, Mrs. Otten, or Mr. Schneider now and until the Nov. 11, 2017 Book Fair. Thanks for your support!

Savio Wins 20th Annual HP Codewars Competition
Hewlett Packard has been hosting a large computer science tournament in Austin for the last twenty years. Believed to be one of the top tournaments of the year, the tournament attracts not only all the Austin area high schools, but many top teams from around the state including Dallas, San Antonio, and many surrounding areas. Teams of up to three compete in a three hour programming competition in which over twenty problems of various difficulty need to be coded and submitted to be checked against the judges inputs. Each problem has a different point value, and problems ranged from basic cryptography to complicated maze puzzles. Over sixty high school teams competed in the 20th Anniversary of the CodeWars competition. There were two divisions, novice and advanced, and the top five teams in each division were recognized. When the dust settled, the Novice team Giakhanh Hoang, Joel Uong, and Patrick Miles finished fifth. The Advanced team of Emily Shoemaker and Jonathan Shoemaker won 1st place overall, holding off 2nd place LASA and 3rd place Westwood. We earned a nice trophy for our case and bragging rights for the year.

Booster Club Board Nominations Open!
(NOMINATIONS CLOSE 3/21)
Many Faithful, Hardworking Savio Parents - Looking for a President!
Our Booster Officers and Committee Chairs are deep in the planning stages for next year and are in dire need of a wise Booster President... This person should be EXCITED about Savio Athletics, have experience organizing groups and running meetings. They should be comfortable managing multiple tasks, communicating with lots of different people and having fun! This is a great group of officers! We have processes in place for success, in addition there is always room to tweak and adjust as we go forward. This is an amazing community and the best place to get involved! The best part is that the current President, who has been running things for many moons, will still be on campus to answer questions and help make sure things run smoothly if needed. If this is not for you, we would appreciate your prayers in helping to find our next Booster President!
Nomination Deadline - March 21. Just after Spring Break!
Any questions, please contact Mary Jo Kilburn (President) or any other board member!
Go Eagles! Soar!
Calling all Spring Sports Families!
(Baseball, Softball, Track, Tennis, Golf)
Each season we put together a sports program for the teams of that season. It includes team pictures, head shots of the players, ads, and most importantly "shout out" ads from parents to their athletes. These shout outs are a great way to throw some love their way for a job well done! A reward for their hard work!
Please click here to purchase an ad or you can get there through our Booster Page on the Savio Website. 50% of all shout out ad revenue goes into the team account for that sport, don't forget to designate your team on the form.
Then email Kathryn with your pictures and what you would like the ad to say!
