Today's Reading
Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

First the Lord degraded the land of Zebulun
and the land of Naphtali;
but in the end he has glorified the seaward road,
the land west of the Jordan,
the District of the Gentiles.

Anguish has taken wing, dispelled is darkness:
for there is no gloom where but now there was distress.
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom
a light has shone.
You have brought them abundant joy
and great rejoicing,
as they rejoice before you as at the harvest,
as people make merry when dividing spoils.
For the yoke that burdened them,
the pole on their shoulder,
and the rod of their taskmaster
you have smashed, as on the day of Midian.

Principal News
Principal's Coffee!
All parents are welcome to join us for the next Principal's Coffee on Tuesday, January 24th at 8 AM in the St. Dominic Savio Library. The topic of our coffee will be international students and how our community can support them at Savio. We will have two guest speakers to talk about our students and their experience: Amy Dunlop, China Project Hope Local Coordinator, and Tina Uebersax, Savio teacher and host to an international student. We look forward to seeing you.

Special Assemblies on Friday, January 27th
From 9:45 to 10:40 AM, the Savio student body will be attending assemblies focused on fostering better community at St. Dominic Savio. We will also be joined by middle school students from Holy Family. The students will be divided into boys and girls sessions, with the girls hosting a speaker in the Savio gym and the boys going to Holy Family's gym. The girl's session will feature speaker Trish Ottaviano, who runs Sister Soldier outreach assemblies. The focus of her presentation will be on how young women can eliminate relational aggression, which is a common practice in high schools. The Savio boys will host a speaker from Intuitus Counseling Group who will focus on self-control and its impact on peer relationships.

Imago Christi Day: A Savio Tradition
In two weeks, we will celebrate our 8th Imago Christi Day as a community on Thursday, February 2nd. This is a required day of school for all students, faculty, and staff where we live out our Catholic faith by serving with others in the Austin-area community. Our students, faculty, staff, and parent volunteers have spent months planning this extremely important part of the Savio experience. Please pray for all of our students and adults as they go out to spread Christ's love as servant leaders.

Admission News
CONTINUOUS ENROLLMENT FOR CURRENT STUDENTS
This year our re-enrollment process is transitioning to a Continuous Enrollment policy. Which means less work and less headaches for our families.
Continuous Enrollment is the policy whereby once a student enrolls at St. Dominic Savio, it is assumed the student will remain at the school through 12th grade unless the family notifies the school of withdrawal or the school determines it is not in the best interest of all involved for the student to return.
Families will no longer have to complete a re-enrollment packet as was the case in the past. This year Savio will assume that your child is returning to Savio for the 2017-2018 school year. If a student will not be returning, the family MUST notify Holly Bologna hbologna@saviochs.org in the Admissions Office in writing no later than Friday, January 20, 2017 to avoid first debit fee.
The total non-refundable enrollment fee for the 2017-2018 school year is $550. As we implement Continuous Enrollment, each family's FACTS account will be debited over a period of two months for the non-refundable enrollment fee for the upcoming school year - the first debit will occur on Feb. 3, 2017 for $275 and the second debit will occur on March 25th for $275.
If your family needs a payment plan for the fees, please contact Lan Nguyen lnguyen@saviochs.org or 512.388-8846 ext. 5003 before January 31, 2017.
Very Important Note: Please take a moment to verify that all family information in Parentsweb is current and accurate. Information on updating your personal information in Parentsweb can be found in the reminders section of the Eagle Weekly.
2017-2018 TUITION ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS OPEN JANUARY 9, 2017
The 2017-2018 tuition assistance application will be available to current families on January 9th. Application and directions are available on the St. Dominic Savio website at https://online.factsmgt.com/aid.
Please note only families that complete the Tuition Assistance Application through FACTS will be considered for an award. The deadline for current families to apply for tuition assistance is February 10, 2017. Even if you were awarded tuition assistance last year you still must reapply for 2017-2018. Every student is reassessed annually based on current qualifications. Tuition Assistance Award notification will be by the end of March. All student accounts must be current and families must have paid the first $275 re- enrollment payment in order to be considered for a new tuition assistance award.
