Why should I pay attention to my A1c? |
|
The hemoglobin A1c is a measurement of average blood sugar over approximately the past 3 months. This is an important value to know because it can provide an overall picture of how well you are managing your diabetes. If your A1c is very high, changes need to be made to your treatment plan. The goal for most people with diabetes is keep the A1c below 7%. Talk to your physician or diabetes educator if you need help with improving your A1c value.
