Flu shots

According to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), doctors are more likely to get a flu shot than nurses. 2000 health care workers were surveyed last April; 92% of physicians reported getting the flu vaccine compared to 85% of nurses. Overall, 72% reported they received immunization that previous year. Immunization rates were highest at hospitals and lowest in long term care facilities. Rates were also higher in organizations that mandated vaccines; only 77% of workers in facilities where employers promoted but did not require vaccination were immunized.   Increases in vaccination coverage were observed across all occupation types and in all occupational settings in the past year.
