Another strategy in the continuing battle to decrease hospital readmissions comes from Regional Medical Center in Cullman, Alabama, where nurses create an audiotape of their discharge instructions with the patient on an iPad, then post them to a website. Patients can then log-in with their personal identification, and listen to the instructions, and view their written instructions as well. Other educational materials are also available on the site, such as videos and medication information. Patients are also given toll-free numbers to call and listen to the instructions, in case they do not have a computer. Administrators of the program monitor the website and follow up with the patients if they repeatedly access it. This program, called "Good to Go" decreased readmissions by 15% in 6 months.
