Checklist of Checklists
|
|
The American Hospital Association via its Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence platform has published 10 patient safety checklists. Unlike the "time out" checklist, used in the procedural universal protocol, these checklists are designed to be used organizationally for major process changes. For example, the checklist for the prevention of adverse drug events includes developing a "look-alike, sound-alike" identification mechanism. The full list of checklists are:
- Adverse drug events (ADEs)
- Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs)
- Central line-associated blood stream infections (CLABSIs)
- Early elective deliveries (EEDs)
- Injuries from falls and immobility
- Hospital-acquired pressure ulcers (HAPUs)
- Preventable readmissions
- Surgical site infections (SSIs)
- Ventilator-associated pneumonias (VAPs) and ventilator-associated events (VAEs)
- Venous thromboembolisms (VTEs)
