Leapfrog

MUSC has recently learned that we will be receiving an "A" rating from the Leapfrog group, a consortium of major companies and healthcare purchasers. The Leapfrog group partnered with AARP to publish 23 best practices from the country's safest hospitals. Some of these practices included:

• A rapid response team nurse on call 24/7 that rounds on the units to check on the sickest patients
• Mediators that help facilitate conversations between patients and healthcare professionals after the patients have been harmed
• Pre-op cleansing by patients prior to total joint operations
• Front line staff meeting weekly to discuss the adverse events in their area.
