Disney Gives 36,000 Toys to Local Kids
Walt Disney World Cast Members recently donated 36,000 new toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots annual drive. Disney VoluntEARS also gave more than 6,000 hours of service to help sort, pack and ready thousands of games, dolls, bikes and other items for distribution. "With the support of Disney VoluntEARS and so many other heroes, we're better able to put smiles on thousands of young faces this year." said Gunnery Sargeant Christopher Hoagland, who coordinated the Central Florida Toys for Tots campaign. The Walt Disney Company also donated $200,000 to the national toy drive. As part of a special promotion, Disney guests contributed, too, by donating more than 4,200 Duffy the Disney Bears.

Disney Donates $30K to Help Homeless
Hundreds of Central Florida community leaders got in the holiday spirit and a local nonprofit received a surprise gift from Walt Disney World Resort during the annual community performance of the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. During the event, Walt Disney World President George A. Kalogridis announced a $30,000 donation to Community Hope Center of Osceola County. "We are thrilled with this donation during the holidays," said Mary Downey, executive director of Community Hope Center. "This gift will enable us to provide needed services to our clients, many of whom are homeless or facing homelessness."

VoluntEARS Give Back to People in Need

During this holiday season, Disney VoluntEARS continue to help where they are needed in the community, including helping to serve 1,300 meals to women, men and children at the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. "We are indebted to Walt Disney World VoluntEARS for their meal service to our residents all year long and especially during the holiday season," said Coalition President/CEO Brent A. Trotter. "In the typical Disney fashion, they provide meals that bring cheer to our residents and the touch of magic as only Disney can."

Disney Brings a "Little" Holiday Magic
Santa came early for more than 150 children at the third annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida "Little Gift-Away" holiday celebration. Walt Disney World Resort hosted the event at its meeting space at the National Entrepreneur Center at Orlando Fashion Square Mall. Thanks to Disney, Macy's, BB&T and others, each "little" received a gift specially chosen for them along with a stocking stuffer. "We are so grateful to our partners who helped make this special day a success by spreading holiday cheer to our deserving families," said Jada Smith, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida, which serves more than 700 youth in Central Florida by matching them with a caring adult.

Cast Pledge $3.6 Million for United Way

The nearly 70,000 Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort showed their compassionate side again this year by pledging $3.6 million to support the Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW) 2013 campaign. HFUW is Central Florida's most comprehensive health and human services charity and the largest provider of funds to the most critical service programs in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Walt Disney World Resort has been the top corporate contributor to the HFUW campaign for the past 40 years.

Local Leaders Show their Disney Side
Central Florida leaders showed their Disney Side during a recent luncheon hosted by Walt Disney World Resort as part of the "One Orlando" Leadership Summit. The event was organized by the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, Visit Orlando and the Central Florida Partnership to showcase best business practices in the region. The summit included behind-the-scenes tours and discussions about transportation, health, education and tourism. The nearly 150 attendees "lit up" the luncheon with special Mickey Mouse ears to demonstrate Disney Parks' "Glow with the Show" technology.
