Every day there are people who don't know where their next meal is coming from or where they will sleep that night.

Now's your chance to be a part of changing that picture.

For the past 35 years, Monday Night Hospitality (MNH) has been serving home-cooked meals to those who need them the most, at a very different kind of soup kitchen.

Our guests sit at tables with tablecloths and china. Volunteers prepare, cook, and serve the meals with smiles and compassion. Every Monday without fail.

This is where you come in.

MNH is looking for corporate groups to volunteer on a Monday night. Bring a team from your office to volunteer and donate to help fill the gap of funds needed to continue to serve our guests a nutritious meal each week.

Please email onemondaynyc@gmail.com
to learn all the details and pick your date to serve.

GIRLS ROCK!

INTRODUCING SAFIYA MYERS,
Troop 3003 Girl Scout Leader

Safiya Myers
Safiya: "Girl Scouts will always be a part of me. I believe in the program. It's an amazing feeling to be a part of the girls' development and to assist them in growing into community leaders and responsible global leaders. They're so much fun to be around, and I enjoy their curiosity and boundless energy. Girls rock!"

Safiya Myers is the 01 Leader of the Cadettes Troop (6th - 8th graders), one of the four troops in East Harlem that Heart & Soul substantially funds. In 2014 she was honored with the Girl Scout Council's Leader of Excellence Award. Safiya is in her mid-twenties, vibrant, gracious, smart, and an excellent role model.

Safiya hails from North Carolina, but moved frequently as her mother served in the U.S. Army. She studied sociology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, graduating in 2011. She lives in Harlem and is the Account Manager for Homepro Medical Supplies. She manages their referrals and works to promote and develop their business. She enjoys advocating for individuals with different abilities and helping them maintain their independence and dignity. She is passionate about social justice and loves reading, art, music and good food.

Safiya and her co-leaders plan educational programs and exciting excursions like sleepovers at All Souls, museum trips, camping, and ice skating. She makes scouting fun, and encourages girls to try new things and strive higher. She stresses community service and giving to others; her scouts sent holiday cards to her mother's troop in Afghanistan and made toiletry kits for the guests at Friday Soup Kitchen.

The Girl Scout troops serve girls aged six to eighteen, draw from 20+ schools, and meet weekly during the school year at St. Edwards Church at 14 E 109th St.

Your donation invests in girls' development, confidence and competence! Please help bring the Girl Scout experience to underserved girls and families in Harlem and donate to the Heart & Soul Charitable Fund at www.heartandsoulfund.org. To volunteer as a leader, or work in some way with the troops, contact Sandra Fisher, the GS project manager, at 212-744-5900 or sfisher535@aol.com.
