Officials to Meet Today to Decide on Go Hillsborough Next Steps

The Policy Leadership Group (PLG), which was tasked with developing the Go Hillsborough Community Transportation Plan, will meet today to determine the next steps for the proposed 30-year, $3.5 billion plan to improve transportation in Hillsborough County. The Policy Leadership Group includes the County Commission; Mayors of Tampa, Plant City, Temple Terrace; and the Chair of HART.

At their last meeting in June, the PLG was asked to consider approving the plan as presented and moving forward towards a November 2016 referendum for a half-percent sales tax that would fund the Go Hillsborough plan. Should the PLG vote to approve the plan today, a series of public outreach meetings across the county would follow in order to narrow down the list of projects that residents prefer.

The PLG meeting will be held today, Thursday, July 16, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough County Center, 26th Floor.

Host a Chamber Networking Event!

Are you interested in hosting one of the Chamber's recurring networking events? These events are great opportunities to provide exposure to your business, product, service or venue. The following monthly events are available to be hosted by Chamber members of any FIT level:

Get Connected

Get Connected is our monthly facilitated networking event designed to build relationships with fellow Chamber members and open the door to new business opportunities. This event takes place onsite at a Chamber member's business on the second Tuesday of every month, alternating between 7:30 - 9 a.m. and 4:30 - 6 p.m. This "speed networking" event places participants in small groups where each person has a few minutes to talk about his or her product, service or business. After each participant in the group has had a chance to introduce him or herself, the groups switch up and everyone is paired with a fresh set of faces.

The host is responsible for providing up to seven tables of seven seats with the ability to accommodate up to 49 people, light hors d'oeuvres / refreshments and beverages, and complimentary parking. In return, the host company will receive publicity as the title sponsor of the event on our website, flyer, and eView newsletter, two minutes to speak at the event, and one representative to participate in the networking activity. The Chamber will manage registration of attendees as well as all communication regarding the event.

Only TWO available months remaining for 2015!

Business After Hours

Business After Hours is held onsite at a Chamber member's business on the final Thursday of every month from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Attendance generally ranges from 75 - 100 members. This event allows for networking with your fellow Chamber members in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Hosts are responsible for providing a gathering space for up to 100 attendees, hors d'oeuvres, complimentary parking and one complimentary alcoholic drink per attendee. In return, the host company will receive publicity as the title sponsor of the event on our website, flyer, and eView newsletter, as well as two minutes at the event to speak. The Chamber will manage registration of attendees as well as all communication regarding the event.

We are currently booking 2016 for Business After Hours.
