More than 50 active duty service members attended Monday's Operation: Partnership event, presented by USAA. The service members in attendance are transitioning out of the military and used this event as an opportunity to shadow business professionals in a civilian work environment prior to entering the civilian workforce. Business professionals from 18 companies in the Tampa Bay region hosted service members for the half-day event. After breakfast and networking at the Chamber, military members joined business professionals at their offices for the remainder of the morning.

Health Care Expansion Update 
Last Friday, the Florida House voted down the Senate's updated health care expansion bill. As one of the Chamber's 2015 legislative priorities, it is disappointing that special session did not produce legislation that would help nearly 1 million uninsured Floridians. As the voice of the business community in Tampa Bay, the Chamber supported expansion as not only a quality of life issue but also a win for Florida businesses. The Tampa Chamber applauds our Senators and those in the Florida House who voted for expansion.

 Apricot Lane is now open in Westshore Plaza! While the franchise is more common in South Florida, it's a new name in Tampa Bay. "It's got a very clean-cut look to it," says owner Crystal Dupree. She and her twin sister Candice Dupree own the boutique that offers great customer service with edgy, fashion-forward clothing and accessories.
