Chamber Presents Dottie Berger MacKinnon Woman of Influence Award to USF President Judy Genshaft

USF President Judy Genshaft was selected as the recipient of the 2015 Dottie Berger MacKinnon Woman of Influence Award, presented by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Under her leadership, the University of South Florida has become one of the fastest growing research universities in the nation with a rapidly expanding international reputation for academics, research and innovation. During her tenure, USF has been recognized as a top 50 research university and grown to be the 9th largest public research university in the nation, with an annual budget of $1.5 billion and an annual economic impact of more than $4.4 billion for the Tampa Bay region. Recap: Tampa at the Forefront of Historic Change
Chamber and Congresswoman Kathy Castor Host Forum on Trade & Travel to Cuba
 
On Monday, March 30, 2015, the Chamber along with U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor and Tampa International Airport welcomed U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and representatives from the U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security, the U.S. State Department and Office of Foreign Assets Control to Tampa, Fla., for the "Cuba Forum - Tampa at the Forefront of Historic Change." Secretary Pritzker discussed the Obama Administration's efforts to grow the economy, support increased trade, and create American jobs. She also highlighted the recently announced Cuba policies and what they mean for travel and trade in Tampa Bay.

Today, the Tampa City Council passed a resolution supporting the location of a Cuban consulate in the city of Tampa. This comes after the Chamber Board passed a similar resolution in February. Click here to view the Chamber's resolution.
2016 Leadership Tampa Applications Now Available

Since 1970, Leadership Tampa has been introducing class members to major facets of the greater Tampa community through an intensive nine-month course. The Leadership Tampa program challenges members to see the Tampa community as they never have before while preparing candidates for the next step in their leadership journey. The selection process is rigorous and competitive for the 50-60 seats available in each class. Come find out how to be a successful Leadership Tampa candidate while learning about the history and benefits of the program at the Leadership Tampa information sessions over the next few weeks. Open Position at the Tampa Chamber: Education Connection Intern (Paid)


The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for an Education Connection intern (Summer 2015 with the potential to extend through the Fall 2015 - Spring 2016 academic year).  Education Connection is a partnership between the Chamber and educational institutions in the Tampa Bay area - Hillsborough Community College, Hillsborough County Public Schools, Saint Leo University, Stetson University College of LawThe University of Tampa and University of South FloridaThe position is paid and slated for 15 - 20 hours/week. The ideal candidate is a graduate student with at least two semesters remaining in their program. Applicants for the position should submit the following to resumes@tampachamber.com:
  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Three references

Enterprise Florida, the state's economic development agency, invites you to the Gulfood Manufacturing international trade show, October 27 - 29, 2015, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai, UAE. Gulfood Manufacturing is the only event in the Middle East and African region that brings together the machinery, ingredients, packaging and logistics industry with the boardroom, finance and procurement heads - the owners and investors together with their plant production, research, development and engineering teams.
