After 38 years with WFLA-TV, Sierens will retire
May 20, 2015. She joined the station in 1977 after graduating from Florida State University with a degree in mass communications. She worked first as a sports reporter and sports anchor, then moved to news anchor in 1985. She made sports history in 1987 when she became the first woman to do play-by-play on a National Football League broadcast, and has won Florida Emmy awards in both sports and news.

Understand who will be attending the various events you sign up to attend. Who can you anticipate meeting at this function? What would be deemed of value that you could share with them in 60 seconds or less? And it doesn't have to be about your business. By giving some thought to these items prior to the event, you will be more strategic in your networking efforts. This award is given in honor of Deanne Dewey Roberts. It pays tribute to an individual who exemplifies outstanding professional values, demonstrates the ability to go above and beyond the expectations of a leader and serves as an inspiration to the community.

All nominations are due by Friday, October 10, 2014 at 5 p.m. The Emerging Leader Award will be presented at the Emerging with Influence event on November 6, 2014 at TPepin's Hospitality Centre.
