Leadership Tampa Class of 2014 Unveils New Deck for the Alpha House 

The Leadership Tampa Class of 2014 unveiled a new outdoor maternity deck for the Alpha House of Tampa Bay on Friday, July 18, 2014.  The new deck consists of a brand new structure complete with astro turf and grass, multiple sitting areas with various lounge chairs, and a covered pergola space.  The class raised over $20,000, including $2,500 from Leadership Tampa Alumni to refurbish the space.

 

Alpha House is a non-profit 501(c) organization that was founded in 1981 to serve pregnant women in crisis and their families.  Their mission is to offer homeless and pregnant women safe housing and the tools they need to become self-sufficient and effective responsible parents.  They serve women of all ages, races and backgrounds by providing safe housing, parenting classes, counseling, life skills, vocational training, and assistance and spiritual support.

Education Connection is a partnership between the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, the University of South Florida, the University of Tampa, Stetson University College of Law, Saint Leo University, Hillsborough Community College, and Hillsborough County Public Schools.  The partnership represents the majority of business interests and educational institutions in Hillsborough County.  The partnership was created to develop workforce talent, encourage industry leading research, and inspire meaningful relationships to create one of the most respected communities in the world. 

 

On August 27, join us as we welcome keynote Speaker Don Morton, Site Leader for the Microsoft campus in Fargo, North Dakota to discuss the intersection of academia & business.
