The 2014 Hob Nob will take place on Wednesday, July 16 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. This premier election season event is your opportunity to mingle with candidates vying to represent the heart of Florida's most significant voting bloc just weeks before the 2014 primary! Come vote for your favorite candidate in the Hob Nob Straw Poll. Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Click here to register!

Chamber hosts Small Business Information Center appointments monthly

The Small Business Information Center (SBIC) is committed to supporting economic development by assisting entrepreneurs in the creation or expansion of small, minority and women-owned businesses throughout Hillsborough County. SBIC provides free business consultations to help clients start and grow their business. Clients receive assistance with developing their business idea, business plan, marketing plan, answer questions about business structure, zoning, permitting, taxes, insurance, bonding and registering your business.

The Chamber hosts monthly appointments with SBIC on the 4th Thursday of every month. Appointments are required, if you would like to schedule a free one-on-one consultation appointment or register for a free workshop(s), please call (813) 914-4028 or visit www.hillsboroughcounty.org/sbic.

After a record breaking first quarter, Fintech's new client additions have doubled for the year since this time last May. Over the past two months, more than 1,900 new retailer locations and 51 new distributors have joined Fintech's nationwide electronic data and payments program.

After the first week of the patent infringement jury trial in Hartford, Connecticut, Voltage Security settled by purchasing a license to Protegrity's database encryption patent.
 
The University of South Florida completed a transfer of 1.4 acres of land to All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine, a move that symbolizes the long-term, shared commitment to continuing the training of the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine medical students. The land -- donated by the state to USF in April -- was transferred yesterday by USF as a gift to All Children's Hospital. The property will be used to develop a research, education and training facility to support innovations in pediatric care and expand the future collaborative efforts of the two organizations.
