Recap: Pearls of Wisdom
Holiday Shopping Personal Safety and Identity Protection: How to be safe in the stores and online

The 2013 Pearls of Wisdom series ended last night with a room full of women learning about holiday safety and sharing laughs with stories on how they would protect themselves in a self-defense situation. Suzanne Diaz from PNC Bank covered a number of different tips you can use during the holiday season and year round to protect your identity from cyber thieves and fraud.

City of Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor brought along an officer from the Tampa Police Department to instruct the women on how to avoid becoming a victim, including self-defense techniques that anyone could use on an everyday basis. His tips included always keeping a spare cell phone in every room of your house, because even if they have no cellular service, the phone will still be able to call 911 in an emergency situation. The takeaways from both of our guests came at a perfect time right before the holidays and taught us all how to be a little safer during this season. Thank you to Chief Castor and Suzanne Diaz for a great presentation!

Thank you to our sponsor PNC Bank and our host, Mise en Place for a year full of wonderful lessons during our Pearls of Wisdom series.

The cups are filled with promotional items provided by Chamber members. This is an affordable opportunity to gain exposure for your business. If you're interested in participating in this program by donating items, please contact Amanda Muley at 813-276-9464 for more details.
