"Women2Women: Advancing Women in the Workplace"

In addition to the array of women-focused events that have already taken place in 2013, the Women of Influence Committee continues to expand its outreach efforts. This fall has been no exception as the group charges ahead with its mission to inspire and educate women through identification and response to business and community needs in collaboration with community partners.
On Tuesday, a subcommittee of the WOI Committee hosted its very first "Women2Women: Advancing Women in the Workplace" seminar. Partnering with Dress for Success Tampa Bay, the team led an interactive employability workshop and shared their individual professional journeys with the attendees. All the content was developed by committee members and included advice on preparing for the job search, networking 101, getting ready for the interview and financial wellness. The subcommittee is continuing to refine their presentation and hopes to continue to share with new audience of women in 2014, including high school and college seniors.

My Experience at Leadership Tampa's Law Enforcement Day

As the sun was rising over Tampa, two deputies cautiously watched two buses pull up to the Falkenburg Road Jail and roll to a stop. The doors opened, but instead of hunched figures in orange jumpsuits and handcuffs exiting the vehicles, a well-dressed group of eager professionals emerged, including one man sporting his "business casual" suit and tie. "Who are they?" one deputy asked the other." "Who else?" the other deputy replied. "It's the Best Class Ever." And so began Law Enforcement Day for Leadership Tampa's Class of 2014. Read more >>
