On May 21, the Chamber welcomed local state senators and representatives for a review of the recent session and our 2013 State Legislative Agenda. With the 2013 Legislative Session at a close, attendees were able to get the highlights of what was discussed and were encouraged voice their opinions to keep their representatives informed of the local issues. TampaWorks 2013: A series of plays that define the Tampa Bay experience
Stageworks, in coordination with the Chamber, Tucker/Hall Inc. and the Tampa Downtown Partnership, presents TampaWorks 2013 from June 6-9 at the Stageworks Theatre in The Chanel District. Eight short plays will be presented in a night that will define the experience of living in the great Tampa Bay area. Join us on June 6 at 7 p.m. for the "Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Night." Oklahoma Tornadoes: How your business can assist with response effortsAt approximately 3:56 pm EDT on Monday, May 20, 2013, a tornado passed through Moore, OK, dissipating at approximately 4:36 pm EDT near Lake Stanley Draper. Initial analysis indicates at least EF-4 tornado damage, caused by winds of at least 166 mph. Entire neighborhoods, a hospital, and at least two elementary schools were destroyed in the town of 55,000, where the tornado touched down. It left a swath of damage two miles wide and 20 miles long.
The U.S. Chamber's Business Civic Leadership Center has their Help Desk up and running to help businesses determine how they can best play a part in the response efforts. This is a very tough time for those in Oklahoma. Please remember to keep those affected in your thoughts and prayers and consider what you can do as a part of the American business community to help.
