 The Chamber honored our community's military personnel at the 2013 Military Appreciation Banquet on Wednesday, February 27 presented by Bright House Networks. More than 450 attendees, including leadership from all five service branches, were in attendance.
Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré (pictured), U.S. Army (Ret) gave a keynote address on the topic of "Leadership in the New Normal." Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll and Mayor Bob Buckhorn also recognized the contributions of our local service members. This event represented the 15th year the Chamber has recognized our local military personnel for outstanding contributions to the greater good of the Tampa Bay community. Gasparilla Music Festival: All Call for Volunteers!
 The Gasparilla Music Festival is quickly approaching and they are in need of volunteers to lend their services towards a great cause! This year's festival will take place on Saturday, March 9 in Curtis Hixon Park and Kiley Gardens. Volunteers will be given a number of tasks to ensure a successful event and will be given the chance to enjoy a day full of great music in beautiful downtown Tampa! A Success Story: The Quarterly Consular Corps Luncheon
 The Tampa/Hillsborough Protocol & Trade Council held its first Quarterly Consular Corps Luncheon on February 26, 2013. The luncheon's atmosphere provided the Tampa Bay Consular Corps with the ideal forum to exchange views and ideas on strengthening local businesses while providing them with the necessary tools to develop a strong export strategy for the Tampa/Hillsborough area as a whole.
During the luncheon, the 2013 International Town Hall by The Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation was suggested as a key event that may help further some of the Council's goals by providing great insight on the state of international business in Tampa Bay. The summit will be held at the University of Tampa, Vaughn Center, on March 8, 2013, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information, contact Lorrie Belovich at (813) 218-3321.
