Digital Rochester's

2015 Technology Women of the Year Award

Rochester, NY - Digital Rochester's 2015 Technology Woman of the Year Award, sponsored by Entre Computer Services, will take place on Apr. 23 at 7:30 a.m. at Casa Larga Vineyards. The event, in its 16th year, aims to recognize, celebrate, and make visible the achievements of women in high technology fields.

In the mid 1980s only 37% of computing science majors were females. In 2012 that number had dropped down to just 12%, according to a study done by Google. Digital Rochester's Technology Woman of the Year Award Breakfast works to reverse those numbers - promoting high achieving woman in the area and encouraging young women to enter into the technology field. A scholarship is presented each year at the event, to an MCC female pursing a degree in a technology-related field.

This year, the theme of the event will be focused on "greatness." Keynote speaker Jeanne Casares, CIO at RIT, will share her tips for achieving success, and how every member in the audience can "ignite the greatness" in his/herself.

Following the keynote, 12 TWY nominees will be introduced in a short video presentation - noting their sustained contributions to the technology profession, work advancing the status and opportunities for women in technology, and their many contributions to the community. The breakfast will conclude with the presentation of the 2015 Technology Woman of the Year Award.

Digital Rochester will be supporting Volunteers of America's Working Wardrobe Program at the event. The program provides low-income and previously homeless men and women with proper interview attire and coaching as they seek employment. A table will be set up at the event to collect gently used clothing, accessories and unopened personal hygiene items.
