Digital Rochester Announces 

2014 GREAT Awards Winners

ROCHESTER, N.Y.: Digital Rochester announced the award winners for the fourth annual GREAT Awards at a dinner at the Rochester Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Nominations were received in eight different award categories and eventually narrowed to 24 finalists, from which a panel of judges selected one award winner per category.

 

2014 Winners:

Communication Technology:

Soleo Communications

For its Call Generation Platform (CGP), a technological cloud foundation used for mapping call-based leads to specific categories and locations.

 

Going Green Award:

Nazareth College

For an online Imaging and Workflow system that allowed for a paperless admissions process in 2014, saving nearly 168 reams of paper or the equivalent of 10 trees.

 

Healthcare Technology Award:

Carestream Health

For the DRX Detector, a wireless x-ray device that can serve as the single solution for any healthcare organization's digital radiology needs.

 

Technology Services Award:

Optimation

For its Media Conveyance Facility (MCF), that provides research, development, and training for manufacturers producing products on a web (roll-to-roll process).

 

Optics, Photonics & Imaging Award:

Ovitz Corporation

For the Eye Profiler, a portable device that can rapidly measure the optical state of the eye in patients as young as infants.

 

Student Achievement:

Melika Alipour Leili, Kevin Lewis & the "IdeaLab" Team

For a mobile centrifuge product that allows phlebotomists to process blood samples on the go, avoiding time-based degradation of samples and reducing the number of false positives caused by spoilage.

 

Visionary Leadership Award:

Michael Pavia, Sydor Instruments

For founding and leading Sydor Instruments, setting clear expectations for business growth, and fostering an environment for creativity and success amongst the Sydor team. 

 

Rising Star Award:

C47 Film Associates

For exploring alternative methods of video production and distribution, while producing short films, advertisements, documentaries, and creative works.

 

The GREAT Awards program recognizes and celebrates technological achievement in the Greater Rochester community's by highlighting the organizations and individuals that show leadership and innovation in the field of technology.
