Fall has arrived, bringing with it splendid weather with warm days and cool nights. This is perfect for tree planting, and we are in full swing digging trees for customers. Come out between 8am & 4:30pm, Monday - Saturday, to look for that perfect tree for your garden. We still have beautiful b&b and container trees in our sales yard, including some new ginkgo cultivars. If you'd like to come out to look for trees in the field, please call 815-338-7442 or email us to schedule a visit. If there are long stretches of time between good soaking rains, be sure to water your trees and shrubs thoroughly once a week. Keep watering until the ground freezes.
Ginkgo biloba
Recently we received a small shipment of trees from Oregon, including a number of 1 gallon ginkgo cultivars. This expands our already wide-ranging ginkgo collection.
Ginkgo biloba 'Jagged Jade' with dewdrops
Ginkgo biloba 'Jagged Jade' is a sport of 'Jade Butterfly' with ruffled edges.
Ginkgo biloba 'Snow Cloud'
Ginkgo biloba 'Anny's Zebra'
Two variegated ginkgos that we have for the first time are 'Snow Cloud' and 'Anny's Zebra'.
'Chris's Dwarf' is an upright form with very small leaves. 'Slovakian Princess' is one of Rich Eyre's selections, named for his wife Susan, who has Slovakian ancestry.
Fall colors
Ginkgo leaves on some container trees have already started to turn yellow, but the color change on in-ground trees is pending. It's always a fabulous sight when all the ginkgos are in their autumnal splendor.
