Greetings!

The autumnal equinox is fast approaching and our days are getting shorter and noticeably cooler. Fall is the perfect time to plant trees and shrubs, and our sales yard offers wonderful choices for any garden. Conifers such as firs provide four-season color. Maples always put on a show in the fall, and Japanese maples can brighten a garden with an extraordinary variety of leaf colors and shapes.

Fall planting season is here, and we've started digging trees. If you have an order pending, we'll contact you to schedule the job.  Keep an eye on the rain gauge.  If we don't get a good soaking rain of at least an inch a week, then we recommend supplemental watering.  Call us at 815-338-7442 if you have any questions about your trees.

Weeping Fir

Abies alba 'Pendula' is a weeping European silver fir. Green needles stand out against the light grey bark. It can be staked to create a vertical accent, or allowed to wind upward with partial staking for an abstract look.  The branches tend to sweep downward. Grow this cultivar where it has protection from the hot afternoon sun, and use coarse bark nuggets for mulch.

 Available in 5-5.5' height - $400.
