Greetings!
Winter weather is here and we hope everyone is staying warm and safe. With so many trees bare you can really see your garden and think about changes or additions you'd like to make. Please let us know what's on your tree "wish list" - we're always happy to search our inventory or place a special order for that one "must have" tree. Just call 815-338-7442.
As the year draws to a close we'd like to thank everyone who made 2013 a memorable 25th anniversary year! We enjoyed sharing photos and stories from the early years. As always, the trade shows and garden shows offered wonderful venues for exchanging gardening ideas and showing off our favorite conifers. And we so enjoyed all the visitors who come to the nursery looking for unusual trees for the garden.
Season's Greetings from everyone at RFWP!

Happy Holidays to everyone! Susan, Margaret and I want to send best wishes to all that have supported us in our hopes and dreams at Rich's Foxwillow Pines Nursery. It is our current belief that the worst is over in our economic curve ball. We are grateful for your support! May the joy of family and friendship enrich us all during this holiday season.
Rich, Susan and Margaret Eyre

Conifer Christmas
Conifers are so much a part of the Christmas holidays - trees, wreaths, swags and all manner of lovely containers. There are so many colors and textures to choose from, and cones and juniper "berries" to perk up the mix, such as Juniperus virginiana 'Falling Water" (photo). The foliage of many conifers imparts a wonderful fragrance when slightly crushed. Firs (Abies) are often described as having citrusy aromas, such as grapefruit for Abies concolor and tangerine for Abies amabilis. Other conifers with fragrant foliage include junipers (Juniperus), arborvitae (Thuja), cedars (Cedrus), and pines (Pinus). Crush the foliage of Thuja plicata for pineapple or floral aromas. Take a walk and see what fragrances are lurking in your conifer garden. |
