Greetings!
Last Tuesday, we had the honor of celebrating the grand opening of our new green building with nearly 400 guests. During this Thanksgiving season, it seems like perfect timing for us to echo again our deep appreciation to all who have supported UTEC.
We were honored to host Governor Deval Patrick, whose office shared highlights of the evening, in addition to Secretary of Public Safety and Security Mary Beth Heffernan and Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Richard Sullivan. Special thanks to all the leaders from our longtime partners at the City of Lowell who attended, as well as former State Senator Steve Panagiotakos, Middlesex County Sheriff Peter Koutoujian and many other distinguished guests.

Two young people, Cynthia Cortijo and Denise Hardin, were recognized with the Tha Thach Transformation of the Year Award. "As a child, I didn't dream a lot. I was like an adult trapped in a child's body, " said Denise in her acceptance speech. "I now dream, mostly about my future and all the things I know I'm capable of doing. Thank you all for coming out tonight and helping others like me fulfill our dreams."
We were incredibly honored to recognize Superintendent of Lowell Police Kenneth Lavallee as the Steve Pearlswig Adult Ally of the Year; and it was a true pleasure to award Eastern Bank as our Corporate Partner of the Year. Read more about each honoree here.
If you missed it, definitely check out the Introduction video that opened up our celebration, highlighting the transformation of our historic 1839 building into a model of sustainable design. And view the Vote 17 tribute which was also shown during the dinner.
Thank you once again to all of our sponsors - our lead sponsors Nancy and Dick Donahue, along with Cisco Systems and more than 30 other sponsors - all of our guests and other donors for your contribution to such a meaningful and successful event!
Our young people and staff were energized and motivated by the outpouring of support. Have a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday.
Sincerely,
Gregg Croteau
Executive Director
