Marksmen Student-athletes Apply Now for 2017-2018 CMP Scholarships



CAMP PERRY, OH - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is delighted to again award exemplary student-athletes for the 2017-2018 school year in their future endeavors through its annual scholarship program. The CMP offers $1,000 one-year scholarships based on merit and rifle or pistol marksmanship participation to current high school seniors only.


Dad and Daughter Take on First M16 Match at 2016 Western CMP Games


PHOENIX, Ariz. - Like tumbleweeds in the wind, nearly 200 marksmen and women rolled through the desert to fire in one of the CMP's most unique matches of the year - the Western CMP Travel Games. Under the hot sun at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility, participants compete in popular CMP Games matches, including the John C. Garand Match, Vintage Sniper and Rimfire Sporter - all while immersed in the stunning scenery that can only be found in Arizona.

Attending for the first time was father/daughter duo Blue Beckham, 42, and McKenna Beckham, 13, of Phoenix, AZ. The two participated in the CMP's Small Arms Firing School (SAFS), which is designed to teach new and experienced marksmen AR-15 rifle fundamentals through classroom and hands-on demonstrations from qualified CMP instructors.

 
JROTC Junior Earns Top Place in His Debut M16 Match at Western CMP Games


PHOENIX, Ariz. - First-time Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) attendee and junior competitor Caden Gamblin, 16, of Tucson, Ariz., not only earned the High Junior honor during the M16 Match at the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) Western Games in October, but also claimed the third place spot over a field of nearly 40 adult and junior competitors and earned his first 4 EIC points towards the coveted Distinguished Rifleman Badge.
 
 
CMP to Host Rifle Match on New Camp Perry Electronic Targets


CAMP PERRY, Ohio - Join us as the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) hosts its first Garand & Modern Military Match on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, on its new Petrarca Range electronic targets. The range is located at the historical Camp Perry National Guard Training Facility in Port Clinton, Ohio. Firing will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is open to all ages.

MidwayUSA Foundation Matches September DonationsColumbia, MO - The MidwayUSA Foundation has matched $128,610 in donations to youth shooting teams for the month of September. This money will benefit 67 youth shooting teams that hold a MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment Account. MidwayUSA Foundation's Matching Program is made possible through a generous donation from Larry and Brenda Potterfield. Donors have the ability to choose the shooting team that will benefit from 100% of their donation, then the MidwayUSA Foundation is able to provide a matching contribution, dollar for dollar. This allows donors to support a specific team, double their donation impact, and the shooting team grows their Team Endowment Account quickly. Read the complete article.

The American Marksman National Championship will be held at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park on 6-8 January. The last two days of the finals will be televised on the Outdoor Channel. The winner will receive $50,000, a prize package and the title of the first American Marksman. We look forward to welcoming Lawing along with other national championships qualifiers to Talladega in January.

Nebo's Lawing qualifies for American Marksman nationals - By Tommy Fleming -NEBO - Practice, patience, technique and family time have been the trademarks for local 14-year-old sharp shooter Brady Lawing during the past few months. Brady and his dad, Sam Lawing, both qualified for the American Marksman Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship by virtue of top performances at the local qualifier held at Point Blank Range in Mooresville. Garand & Modern Military Match at Petrarca Range. The CMP will host a Garand & Modern Military Match at Petrarca Range with the CMP Electronic Targets on Saturday, November 12th. The entry fee is $40 with relays starting at 9:30am. Six relays will be fired. This match will be held the same day as the Friends of Camp Perry Snowflake Shoot, which begins at 9am. Come spend the day at Camp Perry and shoot both matches!

2017 CMP Competition Rules. The CMP invites pistol and rifle shooters, match officials and other concerned persons to forward their comments and concerns regarding current CMP competition rules and any recommendations they have for rule changes or clarifications to competitions@thecmp.org. Comments should be received not later than 21 November 2016. The CMP Rules Committee and staff will review those comments and then confirm or adjust the new rules before they go into effect on 1 January 2017.

JROTC Air Rifle Postal Registration Open. The 2016-2017 JROTC Postal Competition officially opened on Sept. 26th for young cadets in Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force JROTC programs who are interested in competing in this three-position air rifle match with other talented juniors across the nation. Last year, over 7,000 juniors competed in the match that serves as the first step on the road to Nationals. Anniston's Dixie Double
-The 60 shot international air rifle and air pistol competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 4-6 November 2016, with the first relay beginning at 0800 Saturday and the second relay at 1000. On Sunday the relay times will remain the same, although shooters will switch relays. There will be a Final at the conclusion of the matches on Saturday and Sunday. Pre-registration is required for the matches. All events will be held at the CMP Competition Center South in Anniston AL, featuring 80 MEGAlink electronic targets. On Saturday, after the final, there will be an optional target sprint event. This event will determine who get to walk the $1000 prize table first, which will be awarded during the dinner on Saturday. Entry Fee's are $50 per person. Visit our website to register.



The Gary Anderson Invitational will be held at both the CMP Competition Center - South, and the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center, located at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ohio. The National Three Position Air Rifle Council sanctions this three-position air rifle invitational as an open CMP Cup match. The CMP "Aces" Postal satellite match offers all junior and adult air rifle and air pistol shooters a program designed to encourage participation in the sport and test marksmanship skills nationally with their peers. The program consists of Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and Para-Air Rifle/Air Pistol events.
 

CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. The latest addition to the CMP is its 500-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park
