2016-2018 Three-Position Air Rifle Rules Released

Three-Position Air Rifle shooting is one of the most popular youth shooting programs in America.  Its massive participation base includes more than 2,000 JROTC programs in schools, hundreds of 4-H Shooting Sports clubs and several hundred junior rifle clubs.  An estimated 250,000 to 300,000 youth participate annually in three-position air rifle programs, with most of them engaging in some form of organized competitive shooting.  The main governing body for this massive youth sports program is the National Three-Position Air Rifle Council.  The primary means of governance is the Council's rulebook, the National Standard Three-Position Air Rifle Rules.

Camp Perry part of gold medal winner's road to Rio - By Matt Markey, Outdoors Editor, The Toledo Blade - PORT CLINTON - Some might think Olympic gold medal shooter Ginny Thrasher is just a "natural," because she is now the best in the world at a sport she took up about five years ago. But while the talent, steadiness, eyesight and demeanor are gifts she likely brought to competitive marksmanship, her mentors believe it was good old-fashioned practice that ultimately led to the title in Rio.
Thrasher, just 19 and ready to start her sophomore year at West Virginia University, shocked the shooting world by winning the first gold medal at the Olympic Games. She beat two Chinese shooters who had won gold medals and owned a wealth of Olympic experience before going to Brazil, winning the women's 10-meter air rifle competition in dominant fashion.
