Civilian Stephens Wins Overall During 2016 President's Rifle Match
CAMP PERRY, Ohio - Keith Stephens, 44, of College Station, Texas, earned the top honor during the 2016 President's Rifle Match on July 25, firing a remarkable score of 393-17x. Having competed in the match more than 10 times in his career and coming as close as a fifth-place finish, he knew the sort of talent and focus the match demanded. "I always thought I had a shot of winning it, but it's tough because there are so many great shooters out here," he said. "You have to bring your 'A-game' on this one day, so today was the day that I was able to manage it."

Hall and USAR Win Big During 2016 National Rifle Matches
CAMP PERRY, Ohio - In only his third trip to Camp Perry for the National Matches, SGT Joseph Hall, 30, of the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) team, overtook the field of powerful competitors to become the Overall Individual Service Rifle National Champion. SGT Hall fired an aggregate score of 1581-62x in his win - just one point above his teammate, MSG Robert Mango. In 2014 and 2015, Hall was a member of the Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team after switching from International shooting. This year was his first as a member of the USAR Team.

DiConza Shatters Thirty-Year-Standing Record During National Trophy Team Matches
CAMP PERRY, Ohio - In an unbelievable individual performance, Sgt. Antonio DiConza, 25, of the U.S. Marine Corps and Fredericksburg, VA, cleaned the entire course during the National Trophy Rifle Team Match with an astonishing score of 500-15x. The previous record of 499-28x had been fired by SSG Donald Manning in 1985 - leaving just one point for DiConza to conquer in order to surpass the 31-year-old record.
"It's like winning the lotto, even though the lotto is luck and this takes a bit of skill," he joked. "But it's the same feeling. I can't believe it."

Thunderstorms Put a Damper on National Match Rifle Clinics
CAMP PERRY, Ohio - A sudden parade of afternoon storms caused a delay in firing on Sunday, July 24, as the National Match clinics attempted to wrap up instruction. Besides halting the courses, which had begun Friday, the extension forced the scheduled Squadded Practice to be cancelled and the standing portion of the M16 event to be dropped in order to allow time for completion of that match.
