CMP Club News: Abraham Lincoln High School JROTC
A Letter From Lieutenant Colonel Steve Osterholzer, the Senior Army Instructor of the JROTC program at Abraham Lincoln High School - I'm writing to share a bit about this important program that's making a tremendous difference in the lives of high school students and to ask you to consider supporting these great young kids who are determined to succeed in life. Army JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) was implemented by Congress one hundred years ago "to instill in high school students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment." It's one of the largest citizenship programs in the country; with nearly 300,000 students enrolled in nearly 2,000 schools world-wide, it has the mission to motivate young people to be better citizens. The program instills in high school students the values of loyalty, duty, respect, teamwork, physical fitness, honor, integrity, and selfless service to the community.

Eric Pauls Sweeps Military Rifle 3-Gun & 4-Gun Aggregates and SAFS M16 EIC Rifle
while Ronald Doggett Dominates Pistol at CMP Oklahoma

ARCADIA, OK - Eric Pauls, went on a tear in April at the 2016 CMP Games Oklahoma, winning the Games Rifle 3-gun and 4-gun aggregates in the days following his first place overall finish in the CMP Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) M16 EIC Rifle Match at the fifth annual event at the Oklahoma City Gun Club. Similarly, Ronald Doggett, 55, of Oklahoma City, OK, put on his own display, winning four out of five individual pistol matches.

CMP Supports 4-H Shooting Sports
CMP Supports 4-H Shooting Sports. The CMP annually supports 4-H Shooting Sports. Below are Thank Yous from State 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinators.

Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports:
The Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports continues to use the CMP support funds each year in our adult instructor training program. These instructors then return to their home county and continue the good work of teaching youth enrolled in 4-H Shooting Sports.

The story of the Boden family (photo) is a reminder to us all just how much dedicated families give so others may learn and enjoy shooting sports.

Bryce Boden (left) and his father (Randy Boden) are very much involved in Brown County Wisconsin 4-H Shooting Sports in the Green Bay area. Bryce, who is now in college, still returns home to help younger 4-H members in shooting sports. His sister, Lauren, who will attend college in the fall, remains active in the 4-H shooting sports program. While in 4-H, both Bryce and Lauren dedicated nine years to 4-H shooting sports.

Father Randy has been a long-time county 4-H volunteer rifle instructor and in recent years agreed to represent the Wisconsin 4-H Training Team as a state rifle instructor. Randy now teaches 4-H rifle instructors from across Wisconsin to become certified 4-H rifle instructors in their home county 4-H program.

When Randy has a statewide rifle instructor class to teach, Bryce (for the last two years) has returned home to assist his dad in the training. Just recently, Lauren was anxious to assist dad in class while Bryce was a class participant, earning his instructor certification to continue the family tradition of helping others learn and experience the fun of 4-H Shooting Sports.

Valuable organizations like the CMP support these volunteer efforts, making shooting sports possible for those who will follow. We greatly appreciate the support of the Civilian Marksmanship Program.
