CMP Custom Shop to Resume Accepting Work Orders in April
After a brief hiatus, the CMP Custom Shop is happy to announce that it will begin to accept new work orders beginning April 1, 2016. To place an order, please call (256) 835-8455 ext. 513, 514 or 540 AFTER 7:00 a.m. on April 1 to leave your name and phone number. Orders can also be sent by email to jcoppock@thecmp.org. Registration for 2016 National Matches at Camp Perry Opening Soon

Registration for the popular and historical 2016 National Trophy Pistol and Rifle Matches will begin April 1, 2016 - fired at Camp Perry, Ohio, six miles west of Port Clinton, during the months of July and August. Register on the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) website to claim your spot at this year's event!
CMP Club News: Wildlife Committee of Washington (WCW) Holds GSM Match in March

Submitted by George Smith - On March 20, 2016, the Wildlife Committee of Washington (WCW) in Bothell, Wash., held its second CMP Garand, Springfield, Vintage Military and Modern Military of the year. In April, we will switch to the NRA National Match Course Program that will last through September. CMP Club News: Palomino Valley Gun Club Hosts Tactical Match

Submitted by Rina Johari, PVGC secretary - Recently, the Palomino Valley Gun Club (PVGC) in Reno, Nev., held a NorNev Tactical Rifle Match. The match is a precision rifle match where competitors engage steel targets at distances ranging from 200 to 1,000 yards. CMP Readies Electronic Target System for Oklahoma CMP Games - Report by Johnny Fisher, Bulletin.AccurateShooter.com - The Civilian Marksmanship Program has just finished temporary installation of 15 traveling electronic Kongsberg Targets at the Oklahoma City Gun Club in Arcadia, OK. These high-tech targets will be employed during the Oklahoma CMP Games, slated for April 6-10, 2016. All the High Power rifle events during this year's Oklahoma Games will be run exclusively on these electronic targets. Competitors will be scored electronically with match results being processed in real-time. Notably, this means High Power competitors will not have to do "pit duty" the entire week since manual target-pulling and shot-marking is no longer required.

Remington Lyman, son of CMP's Connecticut State Director Deborah Lyman, was honored at a dinner March 29th at Ohio State University as a Big Ten Conference Medal of Honor Finalist (Rifle). Each member institution in the conference gives the award annually to the male and female student-athletes in the graduating class who have attained the greatest proficiency in both academics and athletics. This is the first time in OSU's history that a rifle shooter has been named a Finalist. Remington has helped shape Ohio State into one of the top rifle programs in the country. The two-time All-American led OSU to just its second NCAA Tournament appearance this past season and earned second team NRA All-America honors in both the smallbore and air rifle and was part of the Buckeyes 2013 Western Intercollegiate Conference Championship. Lyman is a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and College Rifle Coaches Association Academic All-American. A Bucks Go Pro Intern, he will graduate with a degree in finance this spring and is already working with Chase Bank.

- Each summer the Civilian Marksmanship Program sponsors a popular series of Junior Air Rifle Camps and Clinics to teach intermediate and advanced rifle marksmanship skills to junior shooters and their adult leaders. Visit our website for full schedule. 
   
  
 
2016 U.S. Service Rifle Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) in Manorville, NY. The 2016 SAFS will be held at the Peconic River Sportsman's Club in Manorville, NY on April 23 and 24. This is a two day program which will serve as an introduction to High Power Rifle Competition. 2016 marks the 27'h year that this program has been provided. All lead instructors are members of the NYSRPA Service Rifle Team and many are nationally ranked competitors. If you have an interest in competitive rifle shooting then this is the course to take. All students will receive "one-on-one" training by an experienced competitor. This program is approved by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). National Match Camp Perry Housing. Camp Perry is an Ohio National Guard post that offers huts (4-person), cottage housing, barracks and RV Spaces for competitors during the National Matches. All Camp Perry housing is managed by the Adjutant General's Department, State of Ohio, not the CMP or NRA. There is a high demand for housing during National Trophy Matches so it is essential to make housing arrangements early if you wish to stay on base at Camp Perry. All junior teams must be in good standing with the CMP in order make reservations. Contact Vera Snyder at the CMP, vsnyder@thecmp.org to update your CMP Club Affiliation status.

April 26 - Rifle competitors

The CMP "Aces" Postal satellite match offers all junior and adult air rifle and air pistol shooters a program designed to encourage participation in the sport and test marksmanship skills nationally with their peers. The program consists of Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and Para-Air Rifle/Air Pistol events.


CMP Club Annual Reports.  CMP Affiliated Clubs, State Associations and MOUs are encouraged to visit http://thecmp.org/clubs/club-annual-reports/ to complete an annual Club Renewal and Activity Report to renew their affiliation with the CMP. The Club Activity Report requests current data about CMP Affiliated Clubs and information about the club's activities during the calendar year 2015. Information reported is used to determine the organization's eligibility for CMP programs as well as to evaluate and develop CMP programs. CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. The latest addition to the CMP is its 500-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park
is the first of its kind in the country and is one of the most sophisticated in the world - housing electronic targets similar to those used in the CMP air gun ranges. Several events have been planned at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park:

Wednesday Mornings - Beginners Handgun Safety Course - Creedmoor Sports in conjunction with the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park are offering a beginners handgun safety and handling class designed to provide the beginner or novice with a basic understanding of handgun safety, operation, loading and firing. The class is four hours in duration consisting of two hours of classroom instruction and two hours of range time. Class begins at 9 am in the Clubhouse. The student will learn how to handle the handgun in a safe manner, how to carry it, how to load and unload it, and how to fire the handgun in a controlled environment. Each student will fire fifty rounds at a target 15 feet away. Call 256-474-0049 for information and/or to register for classes. 
  

April 3 - Steel Challenge - The Steel Challenge "SCSA" is an entry level into Shooting competition as well as the "Drag Racing" of all of the shooting sports. The match consist of 5 stages where steel plates are arranged by different sizes and distances. The objective is to shoot 5 plates as fast as you can while being timed with a timer. Each stage consist of 5 strings of the same course and the slowest of your 5 tries will be discarded and will not factor into your score. There are several classes from kids to super seniors and everything in between. There is a class for everyone regardless of your skill level. April 9 - 3-Gun Match - The 3 Gun match at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park is Saturday, April 9th, at 9am. The cost of the match will be $30.00. There will be 5 stages. You will need a minimum of 165 rounds to complete the match. All competitors, visitors and spectators must stop at the main Club House, which is directly in front when you pull in. NO GUNS are allowed in the Clubhouse. CMP will be collecting the entry fee for the match and handling registration where you will sign the CMP Liability Agreement. There will also be a 15 minute safety briefing after which you will return to your car and drive to the action pistol bays (Range 5) where everyone will "gear up". If you miss the Safety briefing you will not be allowed to shoot. Please be registered by 8:30am. Shooting will start at 9:00 sharp. If you have any questions you can email talladega3gun@gmail.com.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.

Open Public Shooting Evenings at CMP Marksmanship Centers.
Shooters, including aspiring new shooters, who live in the Camp Perry, Port Clinton, Ohio area or Anniston, Alabama area are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to do practice shooting at the Marksmanship Center air gun ranges.
