MidwayUSA Foundation February Matching - Columbia, MO - The MidwayUSA Foundation has matched $61,178 in donations to youth shooting teams for the month of February. This money will benefit 69 youth shooting teams that are part of MidwayUSA Foundation's Team Endowment Account Program. The donation was made possible through the MidwayUSA Foundation's matching program. With this program, donors have the ability to choose the shooting team that will benefit from 100% of their donation and that donation is a matched, dollar for dollar. This allows donors to support their local team, double their donation, and allows the shooting team to grow their Team Endowment Account quickly. Read the complete article.

Coed marksmanship team: Girls just wanna have 'gun' - Gary Herron, RRObserver.com - Rio Rancho, NM - You could say for a fact this five-person team of JROTC students at Rio Rancho High School is a straight-shooting bunch. That's because RRHS's rifle-toting marksmanship team, coached by retired Marine Capt. Freddy Morales, won the Marine Division of the JROTC West Regional competition last month in Salt Lake City. Yeah, it's a coed team, but so what? RRHS's female members finished among the top five: Yolanda Vigil was the first-place individual, Gabriella Mayes finished second and team captain Elizabeth McGee finished fifth. Marksmanship program coming to Kennewick High School - By Ty Beaver - Tri-City Herald, Kennewick, WA - Junior Nicolas Santillan doesn't know a lot about target shooting, but he's nonetheless excited that he'll be able to compete in it next year at Kennewick High School. The marksmanship program, aimed at helping Kennewick High's Air Force Junior ROTC unit recruit and retain more students, will launch in the fall. Kennewick School Board members unanimously approved the program's creation Feb. 24. The decision allows JROTC, or Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, to store air rifles on school grounds and set up a portable firing range in Kennewick High's annex gym. It also allows the unit to spend up to $2,500 in district money provided for career and technical education. Read the complete article.

CMP Programs for New Shooters Brochure -
The CMP is, in many respects, a grass roots organization that places a high priority on encouraging new shooters and helping them learn gun safety and marksmanship skills to get them off to a good start in target rifle and pistol shooting. Several CMP programs focus on this objective. If you are new to the shooting sports, this brochure describes CMP programs for new shooters and how to take advantage of the opportunities they offer.

The CMP Games - Oklahoma will begin with Small Arms Firing School and the M16 Match on April 6. An EIC Rifle Match will take place on April 7 followed by three days (four matches total, two fired on Saturday) of Garand/Springfield/Vintage & Modern Military Matches, a Carbine Match and a Vintage Sniper Match. There will also be a total of six Pistol Matches including the brand new CMP .22 Rimfire Pistol EIC Match, Military & Police Service Pistol Match, Pistol Team Match (2-Man), and an EIC Pistol Match.

NEW THIS YEAR: The CMP will be bringing electronic targets to the Oklahoma City Gun Club. Competitors firing on the highpower range will be firing on electronic targets.
