Three CMP Staff Members to Compete at World Cup Event in Bangkok

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is proud to announce that three of its staff members - James Hall, Chance Cover and Elijah Ellis - will be traveling to Bangkok, Thailand, to compete in the World Cup Competition after their impressive performances at the Selection Match in Colorado Springs, Colo., Jan. 7-11, 2016. Cover and Ellis competed in the Men's Three-Position events as Hall took aim in the Men's Free Pistol event, all held at the Olympic Training Center.
Juniors Gear Up for 2016 JROTC Regional Air Rifle Championship

CAMP PERRY, Ohio; ANNISTON, Ala.; PROVO, Utah - Young marksmen from Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) programs will travel north, south and west to participate in one of the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) most anticipated events of the year - the 2016 JROTC Regional Service Championships. Top teams and individuals are invited to compete in one of three Regional events, held in Provo, Utah (Feb. 12-14); Camp Perry, Ohio (Feb. 18-20); and Anniston, Ala. (Feb. 12-14, 18-20).
 
Junior Cierra Terrizzi Wins Open Match at 10th Annual Camp Perry Open

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - Cierra Terrizzi, 17, of Dallastown MCJROTC in Pennsylvania, was the overall winner in the 60 Shot Open Rifle competition of the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) 10th Annual Camp Perry Open at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center, with a Finals score of 205.3. She bested Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) member Daniel Lowe, 23, by only one point. Following in third place was junior Ian Foos, 18, of Bellevue, Ohio.

JROTC, Pride of the South Band receive city grants -
 "Every year as we do our budget we look to those organizations that reflect very favorably on our city and bring great pride to us as a city," said Mayor Claudia Wigglesworth. KINGWOOD - As freshmen, Paige Hatch and Brandon Helms attended the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) JROTC National Air Rifle Finals. Two years later, they are on the brink of leading the Preston High JROTC Air Rifle Team back to the national championship, following a successful showing at the Brigade BOB Air Rifle Championship held in Lexington, North Carolina, last weekend. News from the CMP 




The CMP "Aces" Postal satellite match offers all junior and adult air rifle and air pistol shooters a program designed to encourage participation in the sport and test marksmanship skills nationally with their peers. The program consists of Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and Para-Air Rifle/Air Pistol events.



CMP Club Annual Reports.  CMP Affiliated Clubs, State Associations and MOUs are encouraged to visit http://thecmp.org/clubs/club-annual-reports/ to complete an annual Club Renewal and Activity Report to renew their affiliation with the CMP. The Club Activity Report requests current data about CMP Affiliated Clubs and information about the club's activities during the calendar year 2015. Information reported is used to determine the organization's eligibility for CMP programs as well as to evaluate and develop CMP programs. CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. The latest addition to the CMP is its 500-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park is the first of its kind in the country and is one of the most sophisticated in the world - housing electronic targets similar to those used in the CMP air gun ranges. Several events have been planned at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park:
 
Wednesday Mornings - Beginners Handgun Safety Course - Creedmoor Sports in conjunction with the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park are offering a beginners handgun safety and handling class designed to provide the beginner or novice with a basic understanding of handgun safety, operation, loading and firing. The class is four hours in duration consisting of two hours of classroom instruction and two hours of range time. Class begins at 9 am in the Clubhouse. The student will learn how to handle the handgun in a safe manner, how to carry it, how to load and unload it, and how to fire the handgun in a controlled environment. Each student will fire fifty rounds at a target 15 feet away. Call 256-474-0049 for information and/or to register for classes.

Feb 7 - Steel Challenge - The Steel Challenge "SCSA" is an entree level into Shooting competition as well as the "Drag Racing" of all of the shooting sports. The match consist of 5 stages where steel plates are arranged by different sizes and distances. The objective is to shoot 5 plates as fast as you can while being timed with a timer. Each stage consist of 5 strings of the same course and the slowest of your 5 tries will be discarded and will not factor into your score. There are several classes from kids to super seniors and everything in between. There is a class for everyone regardless of your skill level. Feb 27 - IDPA - This is a practical shooting event designed around handguns and gear commonly used for concealed carry and self-defense purposes. We welcome everyone to come out and participate. CMP Garand-Springfield-Military Master Instructor
Training Workshop. Experienced rifle marksmanship instructors and shooters who would like to receive advanced training and be certified as "Master Instructors" to teach CMP-sanctioned Garand, Springfield and Vintage Military Rifle or Rimfire Sporter Clinics are invited to apply to attend a 2015 CMP Master Instructor Training Workshop. 2015 dates and locations are:

The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.
