Stone, Kleinhans Lead Air Rifle Juniors at 2015 Gary Anderson Invitational

CAMP PERRY, Ohio; ANNISTON, Ala. - Justin Kleinhans, 16, of Black Swamp Jr. Rifle in Ohio, was the overall winner in the precision category at the 2015 Gary Anderson Invitational (GAI). Kleinhans, who also won last year's GAI, fired an aggregate score of 691.8 during his performance. Josey Stone, 17, of Volunteer High School in Tennessee, recorded a score of 652.1 to become the overall sporter competitor of the event.

Talladega Marksmanship Park Hosts Practical Shooting Match in November

TALLADEGA, Ala. - A group of 57 competitors fired in the action pistol bays of the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) Talladega Marksmanship Park during a United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) match held November 21, 2015. This was the sixth USPSA Match held at the park. Winning the match was Jake Reed, followed by CMP's Keegan Singleton in second and Randy Arrowood in third.

  

Air Gun Competitors: Sign Up Now for the 2016 Camp Perry Open

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - The Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) 10th annual Camp Perry Open is set to fire on Jan. 15-17, 2016, at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Ohio. Some of the best marksmen in the country - including members of the Army Marksmanship Unit and the USA Shooting team - will be competing at this highly anticipated air rifle and air pistol event.

2015 CMP Annual Report. 2015 is our nineteenth year of success, growth and improvement. In the past fiscal year, the CMP not only provided an expanding array of firearm safety and marksmanship programs for U.S. citizens, but continued to support marksmanship training and competition activities for Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force JROTC units through funding, awards and staff and volunteer expertise. Our past year's accomplishments are proudly reflected here in this CMP 2015 Annual Report.

2016 CMP Aces Postal Poker Chip Design Contest

CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. The latest addition to the CMP is its 500-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park is the first of its kind in the country and is one of the most sophisticated in the world - housing electronic targets similar to those used in the CMP air gun ranges. Several events have been planned at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park:
 
Wednesday Mornings - Beginners Handgun Safety Course - Creedmoor Sports in conjunction with the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park are offering a beginners handgun safety and handling class designed to provide the beginner or novice with a basic understanding of handgun safety, operation, loading and firing. The class is four hours in duration consisting of two hours of classroom instruction and two hours of range time. Class begins at 9 am in the Clubhouse. The student will learn how to handle the handgun in a safe manner, how to carry it, how to load and unload it, and how to fire the handgun in a controlled environment. Each student will fire fifty rounds at a target 15 feet away. Call 256-474-0049 for information and/or to register for classes.

Dec 19th - Utah Concealed Carry Firearms Class - This class meets the training requirements necessary to apply for the Utah CFP License and is taught by a Utah Certified Instructor. The course content was developed by AFTS and has been reviewed and approved by the Utah Department of Public Safety/BCI for meeting the Utah BCI Training requirements and standards. This is a classroom only event, there is no live fire component of the class. Email alabamafts@earthlink.net with your name and a contact phone number.

Jan 2nd - IDPA - This is a practical shooting event designed around handguns and gear commonly used for concealed carry and self-defense purposes. We welcome everyone to come out and participate. If you have questions about anything either message shall@thecmp.org or email Match Director Kyle Adomavicious at Kyle.adomavicius@gmail.com. Registration 8:00-8:30 CST. If this is your first time at CMP or not preregistered, you should consider making it closer to 8:00 CST. Shooters meeting at Range 5 at 9:00 CST.

Jan 3rd - Steel Challenge - The Steel Challenge "SCSA" is an entree level into Shooting competition as well as the "Drag Racing" of all of the shooting sports. The match consist of 5 stages where steel plates are arranged by different sizes and distances. The objective is to shoot 5 plates as fast as you can while being timed with a timer. Each stage consist of 5 strings of the same course and the slowest of your 5 tries will be discarded and will not factor into your score. There are several classes from kids to super seniors and everything in between. There is a class for everyone regardless of your skill level. The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.
