Green, Hall Take Hearst Doubles Match at 2015 National Trophy Rifle Matches
 

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - Leading the two-man team Hearst Doubles Match at this year's National Trophy Rifle Matches was the team of SFC Brandon Green, 30, and SGT Joseph Hall, 29, with a score of 591-18x - beating out the second place team by nearly 10 points. Both are members of the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) Service Rifle team. Individually, Green finished second overall, while Hall also finished in the top five - in fourth place.

AiR 15 Challenge Grows Over 100 Entries at 2015 National Match Air Gun Events


 

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - The Top 20 competitors of the AiR 15 Challenge met on the firing line at the world-class facilities of the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center for a Shoulder-to-Shoulder shoot-off and a chance to earn prize money. With 100 more entries into this year's Challenge than last year's, the popularity of the event is clearly growing. Competitors qualify for the shoot-off in a 20 Shot re-entry match. During the final, shooters receive a 5 minute sighter period, followed by 20 record shots in a time limit of 22 minutes. The marksman with the highest score derived from those 20 shots is deemed the winner of the shoot-off.

CMP National Rimfire Sporter Match Set for August 1st at Camp Perry


 

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - One of the most popular events of the Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) National Rifle Matches is always the Rimfire Sporter Match, fired this year on August 1 at Camp Perry. The match is perfect for preparing first-time shooters for competition-style shooting, as well as allowing experienced marksmen to rekindle a nostalgic connection with a .22 rifle. Fired every year to a growing crowd of competitors, the event is simple enough that even new shooters can complete it, while also being uniquely challenging for experienced riflemen. It's the perfect opportunity for families or old friends to participate in a fun afternoon of entertaining competition.

Inaugural Charlie Smart Memorial Regional High Power Rifle Matches - Less than a year ago, the ORSA Board voted to name the ORSA Highpower Rifle Competition Rifle Range after Charlie Smart to honor his 30 years of contributions to ORSA and our highpower rifle marksmanship program. In the most calm and collected manner, he tirelessly organized ORSA rifle matches - from registered and regional matches where the best of the best national civilian and military shooters came to set records, to our fun and laid-back monthly matches. Charlie Smart was known throughout the rifle marksmanship community and put our ORSA rifle program on the map. CMP Cancels August Minnesota Games Event. The Civilian Marksmanship Program has canceled the 2015 Minnesota CMP Games event scheduled for August 19-23 at the Gopher Rifle & Revolver Club near the city of Harris. "Unfortunately, registrations for the matches and clinics are falling short of our expectations and it's necessary for us to redirect our resources in August," said Christie Sewell, CMP's Programs Chief. "We thank the management of the Gopher Rifle & Revolver Club for organizing the event, but sometimes our best laid plans do not pan out," she said. Refunds will be provided to all competitors who registered and paid for the event in advance. 

 

 

 

The Friends of Camp Perry Fall Pistol Shoot is ON!! Shoot is scheduled for Saturday, September 5th, 2015, Labor Day Weekend. This is the FOCP popup shoot, not the ORPA shoot and will be pistol only!. Registration starts at 0700, shooting to commence at 0900 and will run until there are no more shooters or 1600 (4PM) whichever comes first. The shoot will be held at the Combat Pistol Range at Camp Perry, in Port Clinton, OH. As usual, shooters will get 40 target exposures using ammunition no larger than .45ACP and no smaller than .22LR. CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park. The latest addition to the CMP is its 800-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park is the first of its kind in the country and is one of the most sophisticated in the world - housing electronic targets similar to those used in the CMP air gun ranges. Several events have been planned at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park:

 

Aug 22nd - USPSA Match hosted by Talladega Practical Shooters. USPSA registration begins at 8:00 am. A range safety briefing will be given at 8:30 am. Firing will begin at 9:00 am. For more information, call (256) 474-4408, ext. 460 or email cmptalladega@thecmp.org.

Sept 5th - M1 Carbine Match. The Civilian Marksmanship Program's Talladega Marksmanship Park is hosting a M1 Carbine match September 5th, 2015. All competitors in the Carbine Rifle match use a M1 Carbine and fire 40 shots at a distance of 100 yards. The course of fire is 15 shots slow-fire prone (first 5 shots are sighters); 10 shots rapid-fire prone; 10 shots rapid-fire sitting; 10 shots slow fire standing. Registration is open to the public. Sept 25-26th - CMP-GCA Clinic Talladega.
The GCA Convention Match will take place at the Talladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama on September 25-26, 2015.  During the convention the CMP will host a Vintage Sniper match on September 25 and a John C Garand match on September 26. The matches are limited to GCA convention members only.

Oct 17th - Alabama State High Power Championship. This is a non-EIC 800 aggregate match. 20 shots slow fire prone, 200 yards, 20 shots rapid fire sitting, 200 yards, 20 shots rapid fire prone 300 yards, 20 shots slow fire prone 600 yards. This match is open to the public. Firing will begin at 9:00 am, competitors must arrive no later than 8:30 to the Talladega Marksmanship Park Club House for orientation. This is a NRA registered tournament. The NRA classification system will be used and appropriate NRA points will be given. Appropriate championship awards will be given to Alabama residents only.

2015 Biennial Coach College and Conference - Coach College 24-26 August and Coach Conference 28-30 August - USAS wants all coaches that are interested to have access to the information presented at these Biennial Coach Conferences. This year USAS will pilot the live coach conference broadcast to all USAS Certified Training Centers (CTC) and a few other independent sites. This will allow coaches the choice of traveling to a closer broadcast site that maybe in commuting distance which will reduce travel time and cost. They will still offer an opportunity to attend the live conference here at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Registration fee is $170. The CMP National Rimfire Sporter Rifle Match offers shooters a recreation-oriented competition where they use smallbore sporter rifles (plinking and small game rifles) commonly owned by almost all gun enthusiasts. This is a unique match where all you need is a rifle and ammo. You fire with standard sporter-type rimfire rifles that can weigh no more than 7 ½ pounds, with sights and sling.
