Steve Huff Uses Talent, Generosity to Enhance the Future of Marksmanship

 

Steve Huff is no stranger to the CMP. At 48 years old, the Hardy, VA, resident has been a competitor and supporter of the organization for over 20 years - having competed at all levels of CMP matches. From State to Regional EIC matches, he has won over 50 CMP events and even holds National Records in both rifle and pistol. He's also attended the National Matches at Camp Perry 19 of the last 20 years, is Double Distinguished in Rifle and Pistol and has multiple Presidents 100 tabs in both rifle and pistol as well. Off of the firing line, Huff has personally been involved with the CMP for many years as an instructor, match director and has served on CMP committees.

Women in Conservation Series Visits CMP's Air Rifle Range

 

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - In April, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) played host to a group of 15 sharp-shooting women involved in Ottawa County's Women in Conversation Series. The ladies made the trip to Camp Perry to learn more about the National Guard base's history as well as to fire in the world-class Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center air rifle range.

CMP Awards $173,000 in Scholarships for 2015-2016 Year

 

CAMP PERRY, OH - The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has donated over $170,000 towards outstanding junior marksmen through its CMP Scholarship Program to be used for the 2015-2016 term. A total of 256 applications were received, with 173 awarded - even more than last year's record-breaking interest.

Veterans teach youth gun safety, marksmanship in volunteer program - By Leslie Ackerson, WBIR.com - (WBIR - SEVIERVILLE) - A one-of-a-kind program is giving young people a shot at a new skill. Any given day at Bud's Gun Range in Sevierville you'll find a room full of shooters, young shooters. "You can't help be excited to see the potential of what these kids can do," said Les Piniak of American Legion Post 104. Aged 12 to 16, they are students in a Junior Youth Air Rifle Program. Their teachers are veterans. Les Piniak says the idea came about a year ago to Post 104. Czap, Santrock commit to NCAA Division I programs - By STEVEN MARSH - Sports Editor -
Sierra Czap and Carter Santrock were not members of Franklin County's first Eagles Air Force Junior ROTC marksmanship team, but in April before an audience of teammates, school officials, parents, relatives and program patrons, they became history makers. Czap and Santrock, both seniors and both four-year shooters, became the first FCHS team members to parlay their skills into college scholarships -- Czap with the University of Memphis and Santrock with Jacksonville (Ala.) The 54th Annual Interservice Rifle Championship hosted by the Weapons Training Battalion will take place 24 June - 1 July, Quantico, Virginia. The Championship offers service rifle competitions for teams and individuals representing the Armed Services, Active, Reserve and National Guard, to include ROTC and Service Academies of the United States. The National Three Position Air Rifle Championship National Qualifiers are now posted on the CMP website at

http://thecmp.org/air/national-three-position-air-rifle-championships/. Qualifiers from both the CMP Regionals and the State 3PAR Junior Olympic Matches are listed. There were 485 competitors in the Regionals in March and April and over 2,100 in the State 3PAR Junior Olympic matches. Teams and individuals are asked to accept or decline by 3 June. 2015 Biennial Coach College and Conference - Coach College 24-26 August and Coach Conference 28-30 August - USAS wants all coaches that are interested to have access to the information presented at these Biennial Coach Conferences. This year USAS will pilot the live coach conference broadcast to all USAS Certified Training Centers (CTC) and a few other independent sites. This will allow coaches the choice of traveling to a closer broadcast site that maybe in commuting distance which will reduce travel time and cost. They will still offer an opportunity to attend the live conference here at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Registration fee is $170. The Civilian Marksmanship Program would like to invite you to join us for a very special celebration of the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park Dedication and Inaugural Matches in Talladega County, Alabama, June 6-7. The celebration is a two-day event which includes tours of the facility, a special John C. Garand Rifle Match on Saturday commemorating the 71st anniversary of the Allied Forces D-Day landing at Normandy Beach and Service Rifle EIC, Service Pistol EIC and .22 Rimfire Pistol EIC Matches on Sunday.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program invites you and your team to participate in the CMP's Monthly Matches. The matches will take place on the dates listed below at the CMP's Marksmanship Centers North and South. The competitions will feature a Junior Air Rifle 3x20 and 3x10, a 60 Shots Air Rifle and Air Pistol match, and a 20 shot Novice Prone match. Rental equipment is available for the monthly matches for a small fee.
